Leatherman’s $40,000 Multitool

The Charge Del Rey multitool is the crème de la crème of Leatherman’s new Argentum collection, and is priced at a whopping $40k. Renowned artist and silversmith Adrian Pallarols crafts the handles of each Charge Del Rey from 18 karat gold sourced from the Argentine Andes.

Only 25 of these masterpieces will ever be produced, so if you want one, start saving right away. Our strategy is to buy a lottery ticket or two and cross our fingers.

There are several other breathtaking pieces in the Argentum collection that are based off of Leatherman’s Charge and Squirt tools. These versions have handles crafted from sterling silver, and the more expensive ones are accented with 18K gold. The most affordable of the Argentum tools is the silver handled Squirt Lágrima de Luna, which is priced at $240.

Each Argentum tool comes in a premium display case. The silverwork is covered by Pallarols’s lifetime guarantee, while the tool itself is covered by Leatherman’s 25 year warranty. Still, if you purchase or are given an Argentum tool, you might want to splurge for a non-adorned version for actual use and abuse.

Leatherman’s Argentum tools are crafted to order in Adrian Pallarols’s workshop in Argentina. If you love Pallarols’s designs, you may want to consider Leatherman’s mass-market 25th Anniversary Charge.
