C.H. Hanson just released their precision ball level – a 24″ level which uses a rotating ball compass design. One of the level’s main selling points is that it eliminates some of the guesswork normally associated with reading a traditional bubble level.
While greater ease of use is a good thing, we are even more impressed with the greater functionality that this level provides, such as the ability to level in two directions at once, and to accurately measure angles and pitch.
It is quite refreshing to see an innovative layout tool that doesn’t use batteries! Here’s an overview of the level’s features:

Following is a screen-capture from a C.H. Hanson promotional video showing the level on its side as it’s being used to level in two directions. It looks like a bullseye/circular level, but offers much greater accuracy and the ability to measure angular deviations.

While we cannot embed the relatively entertaining video here, you can go check it out on C.H. Hanson’s website.
C.H. Hanson’s precision ball level is available for about $35-$40.
