Porter Cable Low Profile Sander Giveaway!

Porter-Cable-Low-Profile-Sander

That’s right, another ToolGuyd giveaway! This time we’re giving away a Porter Cable Low-Profile 5″ Random Orbital Sander, courtesy of Porter Cable!

The rules are simple – leave a comment in response to one or more ToolGuyd posts, and you’re automatically entered to win. You must have a US address to be eligible, and a winner will be randomly selected in about five weeks, on Wednesday November 18th.

To make things interesting, comments in response to this post will only be considered if you answer the following hypothetical question: Which Porter Cable tool would you like to see reviewed on ToolGuyd in the future, and why? You can refer to the selection of Porter Cable tools at Amazon or Porter Cable’s website for suggestions.

Wow, I like the products designed and built by Porter Cable. I have an electric 1/4 sheet model 330 that is way better than the others out there. My hand doesn’t fall a-sleep like it did with my C-Man sander. I really need an Random Orbit Sander.

Keep up the good work in the design department.

Which Porter Cable tools would I like to see reviewed, well, there is a different then anticipated answer………..

I would like your reviews to cover some things like whether the NEW P/C tools, compare to the old. What has been kept, changed brand (since combining with DeWalt) etc.

I’ve heard the new drills compared more to Firestorm, then Porter Cable.

I’ll second wantedabiggergarages comments. I would be really interested in how much the company has changed.

I recently bought my dad a set of the 18v Porter Cable tools from Lowe’s as a thank you for his help on roofing my addition. I was impressed with the quality of the tools for the price. I also appreciated that that you could buy different tools without buying another battery for them.

My old R/O sander is a Ryobi (I think) that I’ve never been impressed with, the dust catcher always falls off, I have to hold it on with zip ties, I’ll have to look into getting this sander (unless of course I win this one ;) )

Actually I was in the market for a Polisher. Been seeing a lot of responses for this polisher, Porter-Cable 7424 6-Inch Variable Speed Random-Orbit Polisher. Would like an good unbiased 3rd party review.

hey, I’m in the market for a RO sander!! I’m skeptical of the new Porter Cabe stuff ever since it’s being sold at Lowe’s. I’m interested in what wantedbiggergarage and rusty are asking.

More specifically however, if Porter Cable makes an ELECTRIC NAILER, I would be interested in how that performs, although I didn’t see one on Amazon.

So far, I don’t think anybody has made a good electric nailer.

I also would like to comment that if Porter Cable gave Toolguyd a tool to test, I would trust that the review would be unbiased.

I would like to see a review on the Porter-Cable 371K 2 1/2 by 14-Inch Compact Belt Sander. I need to get a new belt sander and I am wondering how good of a belt sander the 371K really is.

    Thank you!

to answer your hypothetical question, I would say any of the 18V cordless tools.

but, maybe a router? I have searched the site b/c I’m currently in the market and haven’t found much of anything.

of course, we’d all love to hear a guest review of the sander that someone won in the giveaway.

any plans for long term evaluations of previously listed tools?

I would like to see the Porter-Cable 423MAG 15 Amp 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw with Blade Left reviewed. The reason? I already have a few saws with the blade right, I can figure the advantages, what are the disadvantages? Oh, and sign me up for the sander. :)

This is the same sander that we are giving away in 2 weeks on The Sawdust Chronicles Build Challenge (http://thesawdustchronicles.com/tsdcs-60-day-challenge-fall-2009/)

I would like to see you review the PC180HDK-2 18v Hammer drill. I want to see it reviewed because I’ve had to put a lot of holes in cinderblock walls and always had to use a corded hammer drill. I am wondering how a cordless one would fare.

    Stuey,

I would love to win the Porter Cable random orbital sander! I have to repaint some outside trim on my home next summer and this tool would fit the bill. As far as one of your recent posts, I do not see any value in the KTC electronic adjustable torque wrench. Why would a professional spend $400 for a tool that cannot handle high torque loads due to the problem of fastener slippage in the tool’s design? In addition, the digital display adds bulk to the adjustable wrench when needed in close quarter situations. Lastly, an adjustable wrench cannot tighten or loosen bolts in recessed locations. KTC and Nepros (its high end brand) manufacture other more desirable hand tools. I would use that $400 to purchase from KTC sockets, wrenches, breaker bars, extensions, ratchets, pliers, and screwdrivers via their North American retail website. The Nepros retail website can be reached at the following web address: http://www.nepros.net/.

    Thanks,

    Dave

The Porter Cable 6 gallon pancake air compressors seem like good buys, I’d like to see them compared and rated to the Husky products at Home Depot. Also to the pricier Ridgid and DeWalt offerings

Do you have any feedback on the Dremel Oscillating tool? Is it dependable?

  36. Posted November 12, 2009 at 9:49 pm | Permalink

John, for reference, you cannot go wrong with Bosch, but there are a few cheaper options that work almost as good.

Terence, for what it’s worth, I have not heard anything bad about that tool yet.
