Systainer Polystyrene Compartment Trays

A few weeks ago, we ordered a few Tanos Systainer storage trays from Lee Valley. These polystyrene compartmentalized storage trays are designed to fit into Systainer boxes, but we intend to use these trays in a few drawers to hold loose parts and tools.

Overall, the trays are as good as expected. We wish that the sides of the trays were without mounting tabs, but we knew about these tabs when we made the purchase. The thin plastic organizer trays are somewhat flexible, but at the same time they feel fairly sturdy. The two pictured trays are currently being used to organize small barb fittings, hose clamps, and a selection of fasteners.

Would we buy these trays again in the future? YES, unless we find something better! While Systainer boxes and Sortainers are a bit beyond our budget, these compartment trays are downright cheap at $5.50 each.

These Systainer inserts are available in several sizes and styles via Lee Valley, and they may also be available via your favorite Festool or Tanos dealers.

You can probably score and snap off those extraneous tabs if you want them gone. $5.50 each? I don’t think I’ve seen anything half as good for that price.

That’s actually what I did. The end result isn’t exactly pretty, but the edges are now relatively clean enough to fit the two trays next to each other in a single drawer.
