I wanted to share with you my latest vintage tool find, a Craftsman 13 pc. 1/4″ drive socket set. The tools and case are all in working order and the set is 100% complete. The set includes 9 sockets, a ratchet, an extension, slide bar, and flex handle drive tool.

All pieces have the “C” tail that underlines Craftsman and are marked with BE. Judging from the Craftsman logo, I have dated the set to about 1940, give or take a couple years.

Following is a gallery of photos of the set, which I hope you enjoy!

Believe it or not, I got it on ebay and the title of the auction was not very descriptive. In fact, it didn’t even mention Craftsman. It just said “Old Tool Set”. Because of that sellers bad title description, I got it for 26.00 with shipping. I have seen other similar sets sell for as much as 175.00 on ebay.

@ indy – I’ve scored some deals over the years due to misspelled or just plain bad titles. There’s even a website that will allow you to enter the real spelling then it will search all variations of improper spelling.

    Good score!

The sets that look similar to that set that sell for $175 are the Craftsman midget set that was made by Snap-On. But you still did very well on a nice looking set.
