6 Inch LCD Digital Calipers for $12

6-inch-digital-caliper

We found a 6″ digital caliper that is priced at about $12 over at Amazon. While we strongly prefer quality calipers over ones like this, cheap digital calipers are definitely better than no calipers.

Included are the caliper, two batteries, and a storage case. The tool seems to be well reviewed – out of 54 reviews, 32 give it 5/5 stars, and 14 rate it as 4/5.

The caliper is eligible for Amazon’s free super saver shipping on orders over $25.

All of these imported calipers look the same, it’s hard to tell.

The first review says it can be plugged into a computer – I wonder what that feature is for???

  2. Stuart says:

Perhaps that reviewer is mistaken? There does not seem to be mention of this “feature” anywhere else.

  3. uthscsaedu says:

that’s weird. I wonder what he is referring to. He states explicitly that the cable is not included.

this item looks very similar to the one i picked up at harbor freight. if i remember right, it’s about the same price too.

  5. Dan says:

You can go to harbor freight and pick this exact caliper for cheaper.

  6. Stuart says:

The similar Harbor Freight version looks to be about $17 online.

  7. Scott says:

Harbor Freight in Indy wanted $17 for the same (or very close) caliper. No extra battery and I don’t think the case was as nice.

I bought the Amazon caliper the day you posted the notice.

    Thanks BTW!

This does look like the same caliper available at Harbor Freight, which receives great reviews everywhere it is mentioned. When I was deciding to buy it, I read reviews on a number of tool forums, including some where people tested it against high-priced calipers and got identical readings.

Regular price at Harbor Freight is $29.99, and people say it’s a good tool even at that price, becoming an even better deal when it’s on sale — $25, $20, $15, or sometimes even $10. I recently combined a $10 sale price with a 20% off coupon, and got it for $8!

  9. Stuart says:

The Amazon price is now $10.25. $8 is even better, but for those that prefer not to shop at HF (my local HF smelled funky the first and only time I went there), $10.25 with free super saver shipping eligibility is still a bargain.

If the $10.25 price holds out, a new DealGuyd post may be called for.
