Excellent, I was able to get my Milwaukee M12 kit completed. soldering iron (2488-20), fuel ratchet (2557-20), rotary tool (2460-20), drill, driver, and 3 batteries (2494-22) for $370. I already picked up the sawzall (2420-20), charger and 3 batteries for $119 from HD. Not bad for about $500 total.

The Dewalt Flexvolt Chainsaw kit is ~$49 off (DCCs670X1), bringing it down to $280 shipped.
I’d like to migrate to both cordless outdoor power equipment (have none at the moment) and a 18/20V class of cordless power tools (have none at the moment). My most immediate need is a chainsaw, so the Flexvolt seems like a reasonable starting point, right? The regular 20V blower/trimmer combo seems to go on sale a fair amount, and could use the FlexVolt battery.
I wish there were some reviews of the announced (but not released) Dewalt mower.

I haven’t heard great things about the dewalt 20V blower, for blowing off a driveway it’s good, but power seems to be lacking for leaves and similar. The Flexvolt blower DCBL770X1 is supposed to improve a bit, but it’s still a side intake fan, a design which seems to be on the way out.
I seem to remember reading that the 20V dewalt OPE is like residential grade, the flexvolt OPE is a step up towards “prosumer” grade, and the 40V is their pro grade stuff.
The flexvolt does open up the whole dewalt platform, so it’s a great choice, my only suggestion is look towards the flexvolt OPE like the chainsaw you mention rather than the 20V equivalents, where possible. They’ll likely serve you better cutting the cord completely in their favor.

You are correct that they are marketing the 40V as their pro grade stuff. But, if you read the specs, the 40v vs the flexvolt blower, the flexvolt is actually higher. Same with the string trimmer, when comparing the 20v/40v/60v. Trend continues every time there’s a flexvolt equivalent to the 40v “pro” OPE.
Honestly, makes one wonder if they’re just keeping the 40v stuff around until the flexvolt line catches up, toolwise.
