Right after we posted our review of Channellock’s new 6.5″ V-Jaw pliers, Josh from Brown Dog Welding left a comment via twitter that he uses the hell out of his Channellocks. We love seeing tools in action, so we asked Josh for a pic.

We’re a huge fan of Channellock products, so when they offered us the opportunity to review their new 412 V-Jaw pliers, we couldn’t refuse! As mentioned in our recent preview post of the 412 pliers, Channellock introduced this smaller 6.5-inch version of their V-Jaw pliers for use on small tubing and round stock.
We found that not [...]

Product description and pricing errors are not at all that uncommon on online stores, but some of them are downright amusing. Take, for example, these Erem wire strippers that are claimed to feature magic.
That’s right, at the bottom of the list, it clearly says that magic is one of these wire strippers’ main product features. [...]

Channellock recently announced a new smaller sized V-Jaw tongue and groove plier. Similar in design to its larger brethren, the pocket-sized 6-1/2″ 412 plier is better suited for smaller or reduced access jobs.

First of all, we absolutely LOVE Xuron pliers and shears. Yes, we know that we’ve mentioned this before, but great products like Xuron’s deserve the fresh attention. Second of all, we absolutely LOVE the above product image.
Here’s why Xuron products are umong our favorites hand tools, and why we think that Xuron is an upstanding company:

Today we’re taking a quick look at the relatively new Gearwrench Double-X hemostat. Similar in design to Gearwrench’s Double-X pliers, these hemostats are designed to hold and clamp onto objects in hard to reach areas.
Hemostats are clamping forceps that (in a non-medical sense) are preferred over pliers when dealing with small or delicate parts or when working in tighter spaces. [...]

“I’m looking for a first pair of retaining or snap ring pliers. What do you recommend?” We hear this a lot, and often recommend that Channellock is the way to go. Why? Well, Channellock’s internal/external universal retaining ring pliers are high quality tools that are easy to use and are very affordable.
Channellock’s interchangeable tip retaining ring pliers typically go [...]

Xuron produces superb precision tools - we love their pliers, shears, and scissors. Xuron tools are durable, comfortable to use, provide exceptional performance, are very affordable, and are made in the USA.
Our favorite Xuron tools are their non-serrated short nose pliers (pictured above), fiber cutters, and tweezer nose pliers. We are also huge fans of Xuron’s flush-cut micro shears (also shown [...]

I was just browsing SK’s website and noticed that their 2-piece compound pliers set is currently on sale. The set will set you back about $40 plus ~$9 shipping, not too bad given that the set retails for $60-65.
Alternatively, you may want to check out Gearwrench’s compound pliers set that sells for about $38 via Amazon.

I was browsing Grip-On’s catalog the other day, and found mention of this unusual tool. Grip-On’s bunion relief pliers can be used to spot-stretch all types of footwear to accomodate bunions, corns, and other painful bumps on the feet.
In case you’re wondering, no, this is not an early April Fools Day joke.
