We’ve heard requests for a 20V Max version numerous times, and it seems that Dewalt has heard the same.
So… good news – there’s now a 20V Max version of the pivoting head worklight!
We know enough about the Dewalt DCL044 worklight for a quick introductory post, but you’ll have to wait on pricing, availability, and runtime specs.
I also need to check on the output specs.
In the intro view, below, where a product manager walked us through the new worklight at Dewalt’s 2016 new tool media event, he says it’s more powerful, but also says it delivers 130 lumens of illumination.
That’s the same rating as the 12V Max version. Maybe the head unit on this 20V Max LED worklight is more focused, but I wouldn’t think so.
On the side of the unit it says that the worklight is rated to IP55 standards. Unless IP55 means something else, that suggests the DCL044 LED worklight should be fairly water resistant.
Here’s the intro video:
As with the 12V Max version, the new DCL044 LED worklight has a pivoting and rotating head, a magnetic mount, and a hanging hook. It also has a belt clip and user-replaceable lens, just in case you break it.
ETA: Fall 2016
I didn’t have a chance to spend more than a fleeting moment with the new Dewalt DCL044 LED worklight, but it looks to offer all the greatness of the 12V Max worklight, plus a little more.
I have really been liking Bosch’s Fl12 12V Max LED worklight, and have more than once wished for a Dewalt version. The magnetic mounting makes it much easier to keep at reach.
All I can say is… it’s about time!
The pricing is uncertain, but I’d think that $39 would be a good price, and maybe $49 would be acceptable.
