EDC Keychain Tool Kit

County Comm EDC Tool Kit

Over on several gadget sites this week, editors are raving about a “new” super compact tool kit being sold by an online retailer, let’s call them KM. The EDC tool kit includes a pocket-friendly pry bar, two mini screwdrivers, handy splinter-removing tweezers, and a waterproof capsule lighter. The tool kit is priced at $42, with the individual prices adding up to $45.80 if purchasing the items separately.

However, the same four tools can be purchased from County Comm for quite a bit less – $27.25 plus $8 shipping.

KM’s pricing on the tweezers matches average street pricing, but the other tools in the “EDC tool kit” are marked up by 80-90%! Wow, maybe we should look into reselling tools. Here’s where you can find them at County Comm:

ScrewKey
Tweezers (we bought ours from Amazon)
Split Pea Lighter
Pico Pry Bar

While we’re not a fan of County Comm’s shipping rates or the look of their website, we love their products. These keychain tools and many of CC’s other products are made in the USA.

Best pair of tweezers I have ever owned. Bar none. I keep a pair on my keys. (I lost the tweezers off the key after about 2 years.) I bought two pairs at the time. I also have the Pico (but not on the Key chain) as well as the sweet pea lighter (also not on the key chain). I love County comm a lot of neat toy’s and gadgets. The ScrewKey looks interesting but I am unsure of the weight and I have a Leatherman wave on my waist most of the time.

I have a SWISS-TECH (their lettering, and trademarked) unit on my key ring, it has a pliers, wire cutter, philips, and flat blade screwdrivers, all folds into a neat square, and hangs on the ring by the plier jaws. Made in the US, the only problem with it is that I often forget that it’s there.

I also have the Swiss-Tech Blair mentioned. My verdict is still out on that particular one, but I absolutely love my Utilikey. I don’t like to carry any kind of multi-tool or pocket knife due to the bulk, but the Utilikey is the perfect size.

As for these, I can’t imagine spending that much on what they do, let alone giving them precious space on my keychain.

These look cool but I am not sure what you could pry with a 1 inch wedge. I have to second the Utilikey as well – it is the perfect pocket tool. You forget it is there until you need a knife and then you always happen to have it on you. And it looks like a key so nobody at school or the airport will give you a hard time about having a “dangerous knife”. It has come in handy countless times.

I carry 1/2 of the ”screw key” on my key ring al the time. That being the phillips screwdriver one. For flat head screws, Craftsman’s 4-in-1 key chain screwdriver–it’s been on my keyring for almost 30 yrs.
