Grip-on Locking Pliers – Muy Dulce!

Grip-on Locking Pliers

Grip-on locking pliers are the bee’s knees. Seriously. Grip-on offers a wide selection of locking pliers styles, their prices are fair, and their tools are of superb quality and feel.

Grip-on’s pliers are available with an enamel coating as shown above, or uncoated. The ones we have are uncoated, and are spectacular to use. Grip-on at least to our knowledge, manufactures all of their tools in Spain.

We source our Grip-on tools from Amazon and MSC, but they’re also available via many other distributors and are sometimes rebranded as well.

Note that ”muy dulce” means “very sweet.” Yep, we’re quite fond of Grip-on.

great locking pliers! I plan on picking up more of these and went to their site after reading your post. There’s a new-ish plier they have out that caught my eye, 122-10 GROOVY GRIP.
Seems like a useful groove that I can count quite a few times in the last 3 months alone those would have been awesome.
There are knock-offs with the same name out there to be careful of. At least I think they’re knock-offs. A search on ebay for “grip-on locking pliers” will turn up a few 4pc sets for about 10 dollars. There’s a slim chance these could be the same grip-on company from Spain, but I highly doubt it.

They do have quite a large selection of different types of locking pliers. I do like the orange color as they would be easier to see. I would be willing to try them as I am always looking for different types.

How do these compare to Vise-Grip locking pliers?

I was in the market for new locking pliers this week, wanted to replace a 10in TW plier and 7in Euro plier that weren’t making me happy, so all I had left was a 75th anniversary USA Vise Grip 7R. I picked up NOS USA Vise Grip 6LN, 7R and 10R in NJ at an independent contractor center and I ordered two pair of Grip-On #131-07 Omnium 7in locking pliers (like those pictured above, in a nickel plated chrome finish) from Amazon, on sale for under $8 but back up to over $20, just got one a few minutes ago via UPS. Immediately I can see and feel this is a much higher quality tool than the Vise Grips. Made in Spain, the fit and finish is precise, they’re a bit lighter than the Vise Grip 7R, there is no wobble to the handle and the jaws are machined straight and true. Speaking of the jaws, these things are HUGE. I was waiting on these to come before I ordered a 10in pair but I think I’ll hold off, these will easily grip an inch and a half. The release action on these pliers really outshines the NOS USA Vise Grips, nearly zero effort required. I’m glad I got two of these on sale, these are easily going to be my new go-to locking pliers, and the NOS USA Vise Grips will likely be neglected but I plan to pick up another 6LN there, because of the price. I don’t want to pay retail for a needlenose Grip-On.

@cannibal I’ve seen the black 4-for-$10 “Grip On” set you speak of and a few red-and-blue handled tool sets with that label. They’re from Grad Rapids Industrial Products, a Harbor Freight-like China tool distributor. Northern Tool carries their line and mislabels their products as American.
