Most Valuable Tool of the Week Contest!

Gearwrench-Roto-Ratchet-Set

ToolGuyd is excited to announce a new contest – the Most Valuable Tool of the Week (MVT) contest. Every week for the next four weeks, we will be featuring one or more tools that have been nominated as MVTs. We will start off the contest with an entry of our own, and will post about the first reader-submitted MVT starting next week.

An MVT is any tool that helped you get through the week or even a particularly rough day.

To enter the contest, simply describe to us one or more tools that you feel deserves the title of Most Valuable Tool. From amongst the pool of submissions, four finalists will be selected, one per week, and their MVT entries will be featured on ToolGuyd. At the end of the contest, two winners will be selected from these four finalists.

The grand prize is a set of Gearwrench Roto Ratchets, and the second prize is a $20 Amazon.com gift certificate. This is a ToolGuyd-funded contest; the Roto Ratchets were purchased at retail price from Amazon, and the gift certificate will be purchased at the time it is to be issued.

Rules

All entries must be submitted via the ToolsandGarages forum. Once you are a registered member, you can submit your entry in the designated contest thread.

To make submissions easier to track, you are encouraged to create a separate thread to discuss your MVT tool and the experience(s) that led you to nominate it as MVT. You should then post a link to your thread into the contest thread.

You can submit as many MVT tool nominations as you wish, but all entries beyond the first require an accompanying photo.

The contest is only open to those with US or Canadian addresses.

6 Responses to Most Valuable Tool of the Week Contest!

  1. I believe my most valuable tool this week has been my Matco MG1769 1/2 drive impact.
It is lightweight with a small body that lets me fit it in tight spaces while providing as much torque as some 3/4 impacts that I have seen, if not more.
It is a great tool as matches up extremely well to the MG727 Snap-On.

  2. Rick says:

My most valuable tool this week was my 3/8 set of Stanley socket set. I use it working on my car or the wife’s car. Living on a farm tools get a lot of use. Thanks Stuey for the contest

  3. Flathead Red says:

My most valuable tool this week is my Kobalt racheting flex head screwdriver set. Not only did I get it for $8.24 on the close out rack (Normally $24.99)but it has been invaluable for fixing the kids toys around the house. Plus it keeps the wife from having to go out to the shop to get a screwdriver for whatever. This week it has helped me fix three toys my boys have broken. Awesome

  4. KenZ says:

It may not be new, but if you’ve never used a RoboGrip, you’ll wonder why it’s taken you so long. All my channel locks are headed to the “Free” section on Craigslist.

  5. Stuart says:

I have seen RoboGrip pliers before, but to be honest I quickly disregarded them. They looked rather coarse and a bit gimmicky, but I will be sure to give them a second look next time I come across a pair.

  6. Sam says:

My most valuable tool has to be my grandfather’s hatchet. Last week I earned my Redneck Car Repair merit badge. I was at the park with my wife, and when we came back to the car it wouldn’t start. Not a sound from the starter. I looked in the trunk and found that I’d neglected to replace the car tool kit I’d borrowed sometime earlier. All that I had was a utility knife and my old hatchet. I popped the hood, and found that one of the battery wires was quite corroded and loose. So what’s a guy to do? I banged on it a bit with the back edge of the hatchet, knocked off most of the corrosion, and the car started right up.

I can now honestly say I’ve repaired my car with a hatchet.
