Porter Cable has just announced their new corded and cordless oscillating multi-tools. Both versions have been designed with professionals in mind to deliver the quality and control needed for many day to day tasks.
These tools feature Porter Cable’s new tool-free accessory change system that allows users to quickly adapt the tool for the application at hand. As with other brands’ multi-tools, these can be used to cut and sand many types of materials, for removing grout, and to scrape paint and caulk with the appropriate attachments.
Corded Multi-Tool PC250MTK
The corded model delivers 10,000-20,000 oscillations per minute (OPM) and features a 2.5A high torque variable speed motor capable of most jobsite needs. The cord is a whopping 10-feet long, giving the user enough a great deal of mobility.
The PC250MTK kit will include 35 accessories and a kit box. MSRP is $149, and the kit should be available in April 2011 at Lowes, Amazon.com and other retailers.
Cordless 12V Max Multi-Tool PCL120MTC-2
A new addition to Porter Cable’s 12V Max compact cordless tool family, this version also features Porter Cable’s tool-free accessory interface. The compact tool weighs in at a relatively lightweight 2.2 lbs and features a variable speed motor that delivers 7,500-15,000 OPM.
The PCL120MTC-2 cordless multi-tool kit includes 31 accessories plus accessory case, two lithium ion batteries, a 30-minute charger, and soft-sided storage case. MSRP is $159 with an expected April 2011 release at Lowes, Amazon.com, and other retailers.

Looks interesting. If the performance is on par with some of the others that tool free blade change may make a huge difference. I wonder why other companies havent developed something like that??
One thing to remember is that most companies’ multi-tools are first-generation tools. It could be that most wanted to cut down on R&D and equipment costs until sales numbers prompted 2nd-gen improvements.
Good point, i just would have thought this might have been included in 1st gen “cordless” model. I wonder if this is gonna prompt the other companies to make bigger innovations in the second gen models? i think its a good start!
I would like to see how the tool free blade change works. The attachments look like the Dremel.
Fein has been using a quick-release system for quite some time….
I just purchased the corded Porter Cable multi-tool with tool-free blade changer. A great tool, very smooth and less vibration than others. Maybe they will use the treaded head to develope a mounting plate to accept other blades, of course that would require an allen wrench. But, the tooless changer is even faster than the Fein. Keep up the good work P.C.
Ok, I see a nice tool with a nice feature,quick blade change. However, I returned a Dremel Mutil Max and a Milwaukee both cordless because the batteries would not give me more than 7 to some times 12 minutes of continuous or infrequent use. Even less if the tool was out in the hot sun. This issue was not addressed. I bought a Bosch corded. Plus I know others who returned Ridgid Cordless for the same problem.
WOW!! I had a dremel. This puts that to shame. The dremel is a toy but this is a heavy duty tool. I love this thing. Thanks Poter Cable for making great tools.
Hoping I have a defective unit, but to me looks like a poor design. Taking my PC cordless multi-tool back and will be trying another one at the store before I leave for the same problem. Problem with mine is, I didn’t even get to try it before the battery fell out. As soon as I turned it on, the battery popped out. The battery was latching just fine with the audible “click”. The vibration backed the battery out in seconds.
Purchased the corded model. Tool works great, had to fit in some oak flooring, worked great, clean cuts ,but Blades are pricey. ??? Do the Dremel blades work on this tool. Anyone know where to purchase bulk blades?
this tool uses the same blades as the Black and Decker tool of the same type. although after 2 hours of searching for replacement blades, i found the picture above. every other vendor sells the O interface and not the U [toolless] interface.
good luck finding blades for these tools.
