Six Tools That Will Sell Like Hotcakes

Over the past few weeks, we have noticed that retailers were maneuvering to market and promote many tools in preparation for the upcoming holiday shopping season.

Following are six of the tools that we expect will sell very well over the next month or so. Several of these items are also in Amazon’s bestsellers list, and we predict that they will stay there at least until after the new year.

Black-&-Decker-Ready-Wrench-TB1. Black & Decker Ready Wrench - This tool almost has “gift item” written all of it since, while affordably priced, the Ready Wrench does not look like a tool that DIYers would readily buy for themselves. We have seen cases of these wrenches being positioned at a local store’s entrance in anticipation of Black Friday shoppers.

Ryobi-Craftsman-Auto-Hammer-TB

2. Ryobi Auto Hammer and Craftsman HammerHead Auto Hammer - As we wrote in our recent comparison of the two auto hammers, although these cordless power hammers will not render manual hammers obsolete anytime soon, they have a certain panache that will be hard for many shoppers to resist.

Porter-Cable-Cordless-Tool-Set-TB3. Low-cost cordless power tool sets, such as those by Craftsman, Porter-Cable, and Ryobi. Each major retailer has lowered the prices on their homeowner-level cordless tool kits. Expect to see 2-piece drill and circular saw kits at about $90 throughout the holiday season and 4pc tool sets for about $130.

Dremel-Oscillating-Tool-TB4. Multi-function oscillating tools, such as the recently mentioned Dremel Multi-Max. Along with the Ready Wrench, we saw a Dremel Multi-Max being demonstrated at our local Lowes the other day. Although the associates were not using it properly, the tool seemed to have made a positive impression on the several watching customers.

Rockwell-Jawhorse-TB

5. Rockwell Jawhorse – It should come as no surprise that highly visible tools are more popular than tools that are boxed up and piled in a hard to reach shelf. As we showed you just the other day, Rockwell’s Jawhorse is now being prominently displayed at Lowes at the front of the tool aisles. There has also been a lot of buzz about the tool online, and its positive reviews can only enhance its appeal.

Dremel-4000-Rotary-Tool-TB6. Dremel 4000 rotary tool - While we’re not quite sure that the Dremel 4000 will be as hot a seller as the other items on this list, it has recently been heavily promoted online and in stores. Holiday shoppers combined with those that had already planned on upgrading to the new model may bump the Dremel 4000 up to the “bestsellers” list.

While it is too soon to tell, our early prediction is that these six tools will sell exceptionally well during the upcoming holiday shopping season. This makes sense seeing as how four out of these six tools are on our wish list!

I’m curious how they were using the multifunction tool incorrectly. I probably would have gotten a good laugh out of that. More likely just chuckled to myself.

I truly hope the B&D ready wrench does not stay on the best seller list for very long. As a tool nut I would not be very happy if someone got me one of those!

  3. uthscsaedu says:

In fact I think I would actually be offended if someone got me the ready wrench.

  4. Stuart says:

The employees were trying to use a front-cutting saw blade on its side to cut wood. It wasn’t doing anything so they kept stopping and looking at the blade.

As for the Ready Wrench, it’s currently on sale for $16. At that price, many gift givers are going to find it difficult to resist.

The Ready Wrench looks like a reincarnation of the old Craftsman “Dogbone”. I would place it pretty high on the “Gimmickry” list, however I think you are correct…they will sell a million of them.
