I was just browsing SK’s website and noticed that their 2-piece compound pliers set is currently on sale. The set will set you back about $40 plus ~$9 shipping, not too bad given that the set retails for $60-65.
Alternatively, you may want to check out Gearwrench’s compound pliers set that sells for about $38 via Amazon.

Edit: Thanks to a GJ member’s comments, it has come to our attention that the compound pliers that are on sale are of the ~10″ long variety. SK does offer a set of 13″ pliers at a higher price, and 13″ is the size of Gearwrench compound pliers that are currently available.

I noticed one difference between the SK and Gearwrench. SK offers a standard (10″ item #17854), and long version of the same compound pliers (XXL – 13″ item #17850).
You are absolutely right, and thank you for bringing it up! This only leaves one question… which size would be more useful?
The 13″ size is definitely useful for reaching into deep, cramped spaces, but the 9.5/10″ pliers might offer slightly more control in shallow but still cramped, work areas.
