Spyderco’s Delica 4 is a mid-sized pocket knife that looks to be perfect for every-day carrying. It’s available with different handle styles and blade configurations, with the most popular being the more economical FRN-handled models.
The fiber-reinforced nylon (FRN) handles help create a lightweight package, and are available in several colors – black, gray, blue, green, brown, purple, orange, and foliage green.
These Delica 4 FRN models feature 2-7/8″ flat-ground blades made from VG-10 steel, and other Delica 4 styles are available with serrated blades.
A 4-position belt clip allows you to carry the pocket knife in any orientation you wish, and a spine-located lock provides easy access for both righties and lefties.

If the Delica 4 is a bit above your budget, you can still get a taste of Spyderco quality with the made-in China Persistance (purchase via Amazon) or slightly larger Tenacious-G (purchase via Amazon), which feature G-10 handles and 8CR13MOV steel blades.
I carried a Delica 1 and 2. They were decent, but I had problems with the clips on both. The 1 had a molded clip that broke after a couple years of EDC. I replaced it with a 2, which had a metal clip, but it didn’t fasten tight enough and moved around. I eventually gave up on them and moved to an Emerson.
Anybody have experience with the newer versions of the Delica? I liked the knife, but not the clip.
I have a Dragonfly2. It uses a detachable metal clip that is not the same design as that seen in the Delica 4, but I can tell you that it is very stiff.
I ordered both a Delica4 and a Dragonfly2. I couldn’t make up my mind between the two, so I just went with both. The first thing I’ll check out when they arrive are the pocket clips, and will report back.
I think the Dragonfly2 is a perfect size EDC knife- its small enough that you can forgo the clip and put it in your pocket (my work dress code is business casual, so a visible knife is frowned upon) without issue.
That’s exactly what I had been thinking. Going by specs and online photos, I judged that the Dragonfly 2 would be better for more casual days when I might sport a Victorinox SAK instead of a regular pocket knife. But the Delica4 looked more suitable for general purpose use. Decisions, decisions, so I went with both.
