Twitter, Tools, and You

The other day I mentioned Google’s Trend service, which can be useful and interesting for tool enthusiasts. Well, today I’m going to talk about Twitter, another web-base service, and how you might benefit from it.

In a nutshell, twitter is a free “social networking” and “micro-blogging” service with which users can read and write 140-character messages. This post will focus on Twitter from my personal point of view as a consumer.

Why I love Twitter:

  • direct access to managers and representatives that are typically hidden behind many levels of authority
  • exclusive promotions, coupons, and giveaways

Why I dislike twitter:

  • due to its rapid growth, Twitter’s infrastructure is sometimes unreliable, although utilities such as “TweetDeck” help alleviate this
  • some managers and reps will ignore you anyways and Tweet like a one-way street
