Since we first posted about Ridgid’s new JobMax multi-head cordless tool system, we’ve learned a number of things.
First, there will only be two cordless combo sets available at launch, one that that includes the three most popular and commonly used tools, and another right-angle set with tools intended for use in close quarters. We talked about these two sets earlier today and yesterday, so this isn’t really anything new.
We’ve also learned that, if all goes well, individual components will become available later in the year. This means that if you want only the oscillating multi-tool and cordless ratchet attachments, you won’t have to buy both combo sets to get them.
The combo sets should hit stores in early March, and will be priced at $199. The price on the right-angle combo set has not yet been confirmed; we only assume it will be priced the same as the drill, auto hammer, and multi-tool set.
We also spotted this teaser video by Home Depot that features all of the various new Ridgid 12V JobMax multi-head tools.

That video got me even more excited about this set.
I think the “weak link” might be the oscillating tool – not the performance, just how quickly it would drain the battery.
I bet if they ever do come out with a master set (containing every single attachment) it will only have 2 batteries and 1 charger, so I would probably get both sets = 4 batteries and 2 chargers.
Thus far, it seems as though most if not all cordless oscillating multi-tools suffer from short battery life. It’s of course too soon to tell if the same will be true for Ridgid’s version.
I was in Home Depot last week and saw a big display for these new tools. Not the tools themselves, just a big cardboard sign, probably about 5 feet tall with big pictures. Something like “coming soon” – just a preview to be on the lookout for these
I think it also said free shipping until 3/14 for the set
Thank you for the update!
Taking a look at Home Depot’s website, the standard kit with drill, multi-tool, and auto hammer is now available for purchase with free shipping. Whether it ships right away is one thing, but it should be released within 1-2 weeks from now.
I bought a Rigid Job Max and it broke on me both times I used it. The first time it broke the washer around the tightening bolt snapped in two when tightening the retention bolt after it came loose through use. The second time the retention bolt snapped in the threads after the bolt came loose after use. Thankfully, Home Depot took it back for a full credit.
I love the Job Max tool concept but I cannot afford to have a tool break on me every time I use it.
I purchased the Jobmax combo tool about a month ago. It worked just as I would want a tough tool to work and I’m pretty rough on tools. The battries did loose charge a little fast but the charger kept right up with the work I was doing. Great tool.
