Makita has just released a new 18V cordless hand vacuum that has got everyone talking. The hand vac accepts Makita’s 18V compact lithium ion batteries, and comes with an extension, swivel floor nozzle, crevice tool, and 2-stage cloth filters.

The BCL180W includes the vac, standard accessories, one battery, and a 15-min rapid charger, and the BCL180ZW requires you to supply your own battery and charger.

While this does seem like a pretty handy and well designed tool, the price is a bit high – $99 for just the vac. Maybe the upcoming 10.8V vac will be a bit more reasonably priced.

If you can live without the extension and swivel floor nozzle, we would recommend that you take a look at any of the number of other more affordable cordless hand vacs.

      Ann,

Or a cheaper, non Maikta version:

I love that Makita has branched out so much with the LXT line. I think it is very commendable that they are willing to produce high volume sellers right along side lower volume niche tools. There is only one company on earth that can supply just about every tool needed to build a house. And most are top of the line cordless to boot. I am enjoying some of the Milwaukee fuel tools too but overall I much prefer Makita. I cannot wait for the x2 vacuum!

I have a 5071D Makita 7.3 but have been running it with 9.6 batts. It works great wish I could get another. If somebody wants to sell theirs let me know.
