Bench Dog Rebranded Bench Cookies

Bench Dog has recently launched their own line of woodworking Bench Cookies. No doubt these cookies are a licensed or rebranded version of Rockler’s design, but what this means is that Bench Cookies may soon reach a much larger audience.

Bench Dog’s new Bench Cookie release comes hot on the heels of Rockler’s own launch of new 8-cookie and 4-cookie combo sets that include a nifty Bench Cookie holder/storage rack.

Don’t be surprised if you start seeing Bench Dog’s cookies at retail stores near you. In the meantime, they’re available at Amazon for $12 and are eligible for free super saver shipping.

I just picked them up at my local Lowe’s in Marlboro, NJ.

    Are these cookies weighted?

Anthony, even though I said don’t be surprised if you start seeing these in stores, your report that they’re already available at Lowes surprised me quite a bit! Do you recall how much they cost?

Uthscsaedu, they’re fairly lightweight, and in case you didn’t check out the previous post yet, bench cookies are intended to separate a workpiece from a work surface so that it can be worked in various ways (edge routing, sanding, drilling through-holes, etc), and they are quite grippy to prevent lateral workpiece movement. Anyhow, because of how they work, heavier bench cookies wouldn’t provide any advantage over lighter ones.

I saw them at my local Lowe’s. Upon closer inspection they have Rockler’s name, in fine print, on the packaging. Maybe it’s another avenue for Rockler to get some of their specialty items out in the mainstream.

JD, that’s what I also thought upon first seeing these on Amazon, since the Bench Dog name may be more recognizable at retail stores in Rockler-less locations.

I love to repurpose things so I seldom throw anything potentially reusable away. Without any specific plans for them, I’d saved a stack of round, 4″ holesaw cutouts left over from some project or another. One day I saw some “bench cookies” for sale in the store and thought they were a great idea. I went home and, using spray adhesive, I adhered pieces of non-skid shelf lining (also scraps left over from another project) to both sides of each circle and then trimmed off the access with a razor knife. Viola! Homemade bench-type cookies that function perfectly and cost me literally NOTHING! After a while I made a second set for my lovely bride and she uses them to, among other things, keep her marble cutting board from sliding around while kneading dough upon it. She used them literally yesterday in making a batch of her tasty Parker House Rolls. Mmmmm!! Parker House Rolls!!!

I know this is an old post but I was trying to buy them and no luck.

    Any idea why that is?

    Thank you

Sorry, it seems they were discontinued a while ago.

Rockler’s bench cookies are still available through Amazon or Rockler.

Thanks for the update, I like their orange color so that is why I was looking for them, might just make my own like Uncle Nick said now.

Anyway, thank you for your great website Stuart.
