Starrett 795 and 796 Series Electronic Micrometers

Over at IMTS 2010, Starrett is unveiling new 795 and 796 series electronic micrometers. These micrometers now offer measuring capabilities from 0-4 inches (0-125mm) and feature IP67 protection against coolant, water, dirt, dust and other contaminants.

Micrometers from both series include a large (0.275″ | 7mm), easy to read, high contrast LCD digital readout; a balanced and tapered frame for comfortable and accurate measuring, Starrett no-glare satin chrome finish on the thimble and sleeve, and two batteries for more than a year of usage. A one-piece smooth-operating friction thimble allows for greater accuracy and repeatability.

Additional features include an extremely hard and stable one-piece spindle, micro-lapped carbide measuring faces, automatic shutoff, inch/mm conversion, and ability to zero the tool at any position while retaining a true zero reading.

Both micrometers offer exceptional performance, with the 795 series including an RS232 data transmission output port. The RS232 port can feed data to Starrett SPC Plus hardware and software, as well as PCs. It is also compatible with Starrett’s Datasure wireless data collection system.

Resolution: 0.00005″ (0.001mm), and Accuracy: ± 0.0001″ (± 0.002mm)

It looks like these mics may alternatively be available with ratchet stops for those that prefer ratchet thimbles to friction ones.
