If they made an adapter for running/charging off of an auto outlet, I’d say that this would be the perfect light for working emergency roadside work. Of course even without such an accessory existing the fact that it’s got both a hook and is magnetic would make it useful for automotive work. Personally I’d like to see someone do a comparison of various magnetic lights (including the Striker Light Mine).

Since it has a li-ion battery, self-drain should be slow. That is, if you charge it up and leave it in the car, it *should* hold most of its battery charge for an extended period of time.

The hook is of the closed-loop type. The unit itself is pretty lightweight, and the base magnet is fairly strong, so it should be quite suitable for automotive work, actually. I have a “Pro” unit on-hand that I am currently reviewing.

Such a comparison between LED worklights such as this one and the Striker Light Mine may be a bit difficult. I’ll see if I can give it a try, but right now it looks like an apples vs oranges situation to me.

Are there other comparable magnetic work lights in both the Striker Light Mine compact light size range and in the full-sized work light range? I’d love to see that review as I’m looking to make sure that I’ve got what I might need in the car.
