5 Things Not to Say to Me During a Project

I’m a laid back guy, but there are a few things I really don’t want to hear while working on a project.

  • Oh darn, I broke a nail, and now have to go file it. Unless you’re a woman or bleeding.
  • I cannot help with that because my hands might get dirty. Ever hear of gloves or soap?
  • Oops, was I supposed to save that part?
  • That looks heavy, good luck with that.
  • I’m okay just watching.

Are there any comments or questions that you really don’t want to hear from a partner or colleague while working? Let us know in a comment!

In the middle of a greasy car project, with hands covered in filth…
“don’t you want to come in and eat?”

No, I’m not going to die of starvation. Stop nagging me and let me finish this project!
    I’m a grown-up and I know when I need to take a break…

    “Are you sure that’s right?”

When working on something in the house: “I thought I’d help and organize your tools” which doesn’t take into account that they are exactly where I was using them, will likely be using them again next, and now I can’t find them because someone moved them.

“Oh, I’m not actually going to help. That’s what I have you for. I come up with the ideas and let you figure out how to get it done.”

“Can I help re-organize your tool chests?” <>

“No, honey, can I wear your panties on my head and run around the neighbor nude?”

Ask me anything as long as I’m not on the middle of a glue-up. What is it about glue that brings out the questions in people?

Yeah… my least favorite is when someone says “Why didnt you do it this way” or “wouldnt it be better like this”? It’s ok if the person is actually working on the project WITH you, but to stand off to the side not getting your hands dirty and actually have the nerve to tell me how to use a tool that you cannot even name…. yeah that sucks. But the worst is when they are not helping, but still wanna drink your beer.
