80/20 put together a nice how-to video showing how to construct a simple low-profile wall cabinet using their t-slotted aluminum extrusions, fasteners and joining plates, hinge hardware, and a couple of sheets of plastic pegboard.
I think that 80/20 intended for the video to be more inspirational than as a real how-to. The construction process is easy enough to follow along, and are also downloadable plans and a bill of parts on the project page (thanks, Dave!). For the next how-to project 80/20 should really consider putting together custom order bundles, but that’s just my opinion.
80/20 is really great to work with, but larger projects can get very expensive rather quickly.
You can fabricate your own joining plates, but it requires a lot of work and can be very time-consuming. A long time ago I purchased aluminum bars and angles that I drilled and cut down to size, but these days I just buy the ready-to-use joining plates.
