Do you know the feeling when you want to buy a specific hand tool, some power tool accessories, or other lower-valued items and the retailer with best pricing or easiest availability has a high free shipping threshold?
I don’t mind paying shipping fees on orders at retailers that don’t have free shipping, but it’s frustrating when shipping rates, even if it’s just $6.49, are applied to an order under say $20.

If there’s a $50 threshold and my order total is $40 or so, I can usually add an item or two to get the free shipping. But when the threshold is $199? I might shop elsewhere, but usually run into an issue where I can’t get everything I need at the same retailer. Or I wait on the items until the order total exceeds the free shipping threshold. Still, it sure would be easier if none of this had to be a hassle.
Today and for the entire weekend, Acme Tools is offering free shipping with no minimum. That pack of impact-rated Torx bits that the local home center doesn’t carry? It ships free.
The Milwaukee Packout tool bags that are on sale? They ship for free.
Dewalt Xtreme 12V cordless power tool kits? Shipping fees are $0.00.
The industrial-aimed USA-made screwdrivers Dewalt is in the process of discontinuing? Yep, free shipping.
Milwaukee’s new trim square is available for pre-order, and it too ships for free. (Thanks Fred!)

I wish they’d use a bit sturdier boxes and took an extra bit of care in packaging. Their boxes are quite flimsy, they put items in the middle of the box, stuff some air packs around … but it is all rather loose fitting, shifting, …
Last order, once again box crushed in a couple places, and they actually used the purchased tool trays as padding, stuffing it along the sides of the main item, so it would fit in the single average medium size box. Luckily nothing was damaged, but to me, shipping for package couriers is different than a home owner packing some things to go drive them with personal vehicle and put them in a storage room. Maybe they’ve got it all worked out, and a only a minimum of orders suffer damage, and they enjoy the cost savings / retain a competitive edge vs bumping up shipping materials cost; but that’s my 2c on some of the orders I received.

Again, your blog have overseas subscribers!

And I appreciate you! But there’s not much I can do about finding or posting about tool deals at retailers outside the US.

Stuart:
Perhaps your international readership might suggest some foreign tool purveyors (possibly ones like Axminster in GB) who ship internationally. If they also email folks about their upcoming specials – it might be easy to get on their list.

Back on topic – this Acme deal might be an opportunity to pr-order one of those Milwaukee 4-1/2 inch trim squares (subject of one of your recent posts) – and get free shipping:

That’s exactly what I did. I can confirm these qualify for free shipping with the deal.
