After-Christmas Tool Sales

Today is 12/26/12, which means it’s time for after-Christmas sales. Many holiday deals have already expired, but there are a couple of promos worth checking out.

Zoro Tools: 26%-off orders $150+ with promo code JOLLY26.

Amazon

Go Black & Decker: $10 off $50, exp. 12/31
Go Dewalt: $25 off $100+, exp. 12/31
Go Porter Cable: $20 off $100+, exp. 12/31
Go Stanley: $9 off $45, exp. 12/31

Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Retail Stores

There aren’t many new deals at Big Box retailers, but most are still trying to clear out holiday tool bundles and specials as quick as they can. Older SKUs are starting to be clearanced as updated models start flowing down distribution channels.

Look for deals on Milwaukee M12 drills and drivers, since they will (probably) be completely replaced by the new brushless FUEL models in early 2013. The Dremel 4200 will be replacing the 4000-series tools, so look for those to be discounted as well.

But be careful. A lot of after Christmas sales are lackluster with higher prices than you’ll find most other times.

Checked on a Ridgid 4S (32850) pipe cutter at Zoro Tools – with the 26% discount it came to about $2 more than my usual online source wanted – bu less than Amazon’s price

Yes indeed, home depot has great lower prices on their m12 products. They are tempting but I will wait for the m12 fuel line. I seen some respected online tool retailers have them instock but I will wait for home depot to stock them so I can walk in and buy. Im going to buy the m12 fuel hammer drill, its only $20 more than the screwdriver and comes with a 4.0 red lithium battery.

Question – if Milwaukee is going to a net M12 FUEL line, does that impact being able to get batteries for the current line? I have an inspection camera, drill, and coat, all of which use the M12 batteries, that I’ve bought in the last year. Yikes! Or is it just the tools that change, the batteries are backwards compatible?

The new 2.0 and 4.0 m12 batteries are backwards compatible. It would be a huge mistake for milwaukee if they werent. Just remembe the xc packs of any variety (original, redlithium, 4.0) don’t fit on all tools, fit on most but not all.

Are the new m12 2.0 and 4.0’s available now? I am going to get the m12 band saw but will hold out for the extra 4.0 for extra batteries.

No, not yet. Even when they do, the bandsaw may not have a kit with them immediately anyway.

If the 4.0 is the same size as the current XC pack, I don’t believe it will work with the band saw. I read there are 2 M12 tools that can’t fit the larger battery due to where the battery is placed, one being the bandsaw

I just picked up a 3 tool Senco Nailer set for $179 at Menards. Not sure if this was just in my area (South Eastern, WI), but it went very nicely with the compressor I got for Christmas. Note : My biggest plus on this set was the finishing nailer is the FinishPro35, which is 15 gauge and built like a tank. I just finished building my new counters with this set and it worked awesome!
