Over at Home Depot, today’s day of the deal features air compressors, nailers, and a Ryobi 18V inflator kit.

$150 off M18 FUEL 18-Volt 16-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer Kit
I’ve heard mixed reviews on these new MKE nailers, but for what it’s worth, over at HD, they have this particular nailer currently on sale. I’m not sure if they’ll match the price in the store but I’m going to try to find out today, since they’re out of stock online. What’s strange is, yesterday it was $259, and said the deal ended at midnight. Well it did end, and now it’s $10 less, with the deal again ending today at midnight. I’m hoping it will continue to drop $10/day until there aren’t any left. The last thing I need is another battery and charger, but the bare tool is $100 more at $349! Makes no sense. Hopefully this helps someone out.

OOS online

I’ve heard of the mixed reviews as well. I like the size, but if they don’t drive well at an angle it doesn’t really matter. The Hitachi cordless nailers are new and heard nothing but good things so far from the few online reviews.
Ryan
Just to reiterate, I know it’s out of stock online. But perhaps they’ll match it in the store if they have some one hand.
Ryan
Nevermind, looks like they just took it down.
Ryan
Ok well the link doesn’t work but it’s still up. Search for “Milwaukee 2742-21ct” to find it. It doesn’t come up under “Milwaukee nailer”
Stuart
Fred’s link still works: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-16-Gauge-Angled-Finish-Nailer-Kit-2742-21CT/206862848
Internet SKU: 206862848
Stores sometimes have difficulty locating in-store items by the online SKU, but there’s no in-store SKU I could find.
I don’t know if it’s something that’s carried in stores.
fred
When you click I=on the link – it says “this item not sold in stores”

Interested in the Ridgid air nailer comb until I read a comment that a buyer received the tools in a plain brown box plus was missing a hex wrench indicating these are reconditioned tools. The description states these are not reconditioned tools and come with lifetime warrenty. Confusing. Going to hold off ordering until I can confirm these are new tools delivered in unopened retail packaging and are covered under their lifetime warrenty.
Stuart
They should all be new.

The HDX kit that has the 16 ga, 18ga and the narrow stapler isn’t a bad buy from the looks of it. If you needed/wanted either of those items, the little extra gets you alot more. I use a 16 ga fairly often and while I don’t have a need for the narrow stapler I’d probably use it. Instead of getting just the one nailer I’d have bought this kit for that price.

So I would love to get that Milwaukee nailer in Fred’s link but they are sold out online. Nearest Home Depot to my location is 500 miles round trip. Seems I’m batting a thousand right about now. Gonna keep eyes open, really warming up to the idea of a grab and go cordless battery powered fiinish nailer. My Senco 15 ga nailer is fine but wastes time dragging out comp and hose, especially on smaller jobs.

Hmm, I just got the Ryobi tool-only version of that cordless nailer on sale for $99. Of course this kit with the drill and batteries goes on sale now. There’s a kit for $199 that throws in a circular saw, light, and recip saw. Then a $269 kit with all that and an impact, upgraded drill, better batteries… I think I’ll hold with what I have for $99

I always check the special buy first thing every morning when I get up. I was really exited to see the little 1 gallon California compressor for $99. However at 6:30 am eastern it already said out of stock online, kinda strange

Sears has a California Air Tools model on sale too:

Great if you have Shop Your Way points.
I have a CAT and it is great. Not silent, but so much better than your average oil-less compressor.
TonyRockyTiger
Ditto on the CAT compressor I have. It has worked great for my projects and is quieter than most compressors out there.

A few months ago I ordered the California Air Tools 2010A. It’s very quiet, as they advertise. One thing I did not like is the regulator knob. It’s cheaply made plastic and hard to turn. That being said I would still buy it again.
Note that right now it’s on sale at Amazon for $149.
Mike K
I have a california air compressor and it really is quiet. I like it also and would buy it again.

I can chime in on California air tools.
I am on my second(first was stolen out of my van) about a year in. I’m a lead carpenter for a residential contractor so it does get used hard.
It is great i really like the quiet, the slower rpm motor (it is a double pump that spins at half the speed, this configuration means double the life) not only is it quiet but the slow speed pump is just easier on the ear.
It also has relatively high cfm for a double stack hot dog. In my circles there are really just 3 good brands of compressor for these small sizes. Makita rolair and California air tools although the other brands have been around for long enough to prove themselves while CAT is relatively new.
I spoke with a tech over the phone re: the first one i bought which came needing an adjustment and i found the tech was really great and was the same guy on their youtube videos promoting it at tradeshows. I expect that these guys will back the product up for years to come.
One thing to be clear about: just like most other high end tools these days, these are mostly from china and some parts are of questionable quality(for examplle the hose coupler that came on the first one i bought was junk) but one upside to that is that the most common parts to fail are easy to find on amazon and not proprietary[such as check valves lines hoses regulators etc]
Quiet high output aluminum tank friendly staff.. So far i really like them and have ordered our team a couple more in the last few months but time will tell as far as long term durability..
While im here i also just want to say thanks for the great website!

I didn’t have good luck with California Air. First one caught on fire. Sent it back. Bought a bigger one. Was obviously used, which I wouldn’t have cared about, but the motor wasn’t connected to the tank properly (screws were broken). Tried calling support, didn’t hear back, so I sent it back and got a Rolair. On the positive side, HD customer service was surprisingly great.

I have the CAT 1610A 1 hp compressor. I have other compressors, but they are so noisy, you need to wear ear protection. This one is so quiet, you don’t even notice when it is running. I use many air tools, but I use this one just for pin and brad nailers. The aluminum tank is one great feature; no rust!
