Mitutoyo 8-inch Digital Calipers

Amazon’s pre-Black Friday Lighting tool deals have been disappointing, but there are some interesting deals for today, 11/25/2015.

I’ve got my eyes on the Mitutoyo 8-inch digital calipers – if the sale price is right. I have 6-inch Mitutoyo calipers, but sometimes they fall a little short for measuring things like the overall length of screwdrivers, wrenches, and knives.

Do any of these deals interest you?

9:50am ET Prime: Mora Companion Heavy Duty Knife, reg. $19 (Owned & Recommended)
10:40am ET Prime: Rubbermaid Folding 1-Step Plastic Stool, reg. $18
10:40am ET Prime: Fuji Hobby-PRO 2 HVLP Spray System + Bonus Kit & Filters, reg. $399
12:25pm ET Prime: Mitutoyo 8-inch Digital Calipers (500-197-30), reg. $180
7:25pm ET Prime: Drill America 60pc Wire Gauge Drill Bit Set, reg. $31.35
9:30pm ET Prime: “Designer Duct Tape,” 6pc Set, reg. $20

Prime early access deals start 30-minutes later for non-Prime subscribers. As usual, the “Lightning Deals” will have limited time sales windows and limited supplies of products that will be available at the sale prices. Sale prices will only be known once the deals go live at their designated times.

Strategy Tip: If you think you might want to take advantage of a deal, adding the item to your cart reserves one for you for 15 minutes, giving you time to make a purchasing decision before it has a chance to sell out.

While I’m not sure I need the precision of an eight inch digital caliper to replace my 6 inch Mitutoyo 500-196-20 – I can see the appeal if the deal price is good. In my woodworking – I find that I more often use a Dial Caliper that reads out in fractions – My 15 year old $80 (back then) Starrett 1202F-8 serves me well – but I believe that it is now made in China and costs a bit more.

I also can attest that Fuji makes good HVLP sprayers – too bad the Q4 that I bought when I retired was not on a lightning deal.

There is a NIST version of those calipers selling for $160 right now:

The only real problem is that it won’t ship until after Christmas, but at least the shipping is free.

On a side note, I just got 4 real Mitutoyo calipers, three 6″ and one 8″ for a little over $200 via an auction at a closed Bose factory. Just needed new batteries and they are good to go.

Lightning deals are always fun, always wanted to buy a new paint sprayer. This 8-inch caliper is also interesting if can get it at the right price.
