Some of the deals have been going out of stock only to return back in stock and at deal pricing later on. If you see something that’s out of stock, it might be a good idea to check back a little later.
Not all of the deals are going to be great bargains, although most are. I have added notes for the few deals where I felt added context or details were necessarily.

I snagged a Dewalt 20v work light for 25 bucks and the Gerber Paraframe for a glove box knife. After the discounts it was just over 26 bucks shipped. Thanks for your hard work already on this early morning!
Stuart
I’m glad it helped!
I’m still at it – it’s going to be a long day.
Do you mean $36 shipped? I see that the DCL044 on sale for $29 – or was there another one I might be missing?
Pete O.
Yep, that’s the one. You didn’t miss anything. $26 shipped, but I had $10 prime savings.
Ryan
Lots of Mitutoyo stuff seems to be on sale, although it’s not explicitly marked as prime day deals.
Stuart
They do have a Prime Day Deals category – https://www.amazon.com/deal/81d12670?tag=toolguyd-20
Are there any other Mitutoyo deals you think are standouts?
Richard Schneeman
A tangential question: are there good “mid” level brands for calipers? The gulf between a NEIKO and Mitutoyo seems huge.
Jared
I have this same question. Ben posted a topic about it awhile back but I don’t think there was a resolution.
For lower cost calipers, igauging is well reviewed. I just ordered a pair from Lee Valley to try (listed on their website as “blindman’s” calipers because of the large screen). Also sold on Amazon.
Another brand to check for high quality calipers is Brown & Sharp.
What I couldn’t find was a reliable recommendation for something between those price points. Maybe that’s because igauging is already good? 🤞
Stuart
Not really?
I’ve had my Mitutoyo calipers for years (vernier, dial, and digital), and I completely trust them.
If you don’t need that level of trust and reliability, Neiko is a pretty constant brand on Amazon. There’s also Fowler, but I see them as positioned closer to Neiko than in between Neiko and Mitutoyo.
SPI is another value-oriented industrial brand,
Here’s the post Jared’s referring to: https://toolguyd.com/any-recommendations-for-inexpensive-calipers/
Here’s my default digital calipers recommendation: https://toolguyd.com/mitutoyo-digital-calipers/
Matt the Hoople
Managed an inspection department with over 2000 calibrated measuring instruments for a decade. We had about 200 calipers from about a dozen brands. My personal calipers are the mitutoyo that Stuart recommends. They are fantastic. No need to spend any more on a caliper. Have had good luck with SPI at about half the price of the mitutoyo. They are budget industrial but industrial nonetheless so built to be used regularly. For home use, even the cheaper (disposable?) calipers in the $30 range will likely be fine. For anything critical requiring precision (engine rebuild?) a micrometer is a better option.
Skye A Cohen
Fyi your heading reads “lighting deals” not “lightning deals”
Stuart
Thanks! *fixed*
Matt the Hoople
Are the deals limited time (like good for an hour or two? Clicked on several. A couple match the pricing listed above but several seem to be at regular price now.
Stuart
They didn’t seem to be. Look closely at the price – underneath it will say “save additional x% at checkout” (or similar) for certain products. I did the math for most for simplicity.
I’ll take another look – I would hope they didn’t run out or expire so quickly.
Matt the Hoople
You’re right. Looks like I missed the little “prime deal” box where it says an extra __% off at checkout. Thanks.
David N.
That DWE7485 and mobile stand for 365 right now is a steal…just bought one!
Stuart
Agreed! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092GF4WF3/?tag=toolguyd-20
Matt R
Unfortunately it appears to be sold out already. 🙁
Stuart
Sorry, that does appear to be the case.
It was “sold out” and now there’s a different “bundle deal” at $490.67.
What’s weird is that this is also via Amazon direct, so maybe the deal pricing will return?
Update: It’s BACK!!
Mike McFalls
I see it for $365 on Amazon at this moment. Could it be a location issue or maybe just a glitch on Amazon
Stuart
Thanks!
I can confirm – the $365 deal price is back!!
Adam
$359 at Home Depot. Think they just did it to beat?
Stuart
Amazon Deal
Home Depot Deal
I searched earlier and didn’t see this bundle at Home Depot. They could very well be a responsive promo.
candrews
Grabbed the Porter Cable angle grinder – Prime put it at $25 once it got to the cart. Seems to be the cloned version of the Craftsman CMEG100 that’s going for $35 at Amazon…
Thanks for the heads up!
Stuart
Porter Cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFSDJGM/?tag=toolguyd-20
Craftsman: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KKB4C78/?tag=toolguyd-20
Technically, I’d say the Craftsman is the clone of the Porter Cable.
fred
The only Dewalt item that I had on may Amazon wish list was a DWA2T40IR 40 piece bit set. I was thinking about giving some of these away for Xmas and was waiting to see what would happen to the price on Prime Day. It went up 25% ($19.98 to $24.99) – maybe just a random occurrence in the realm of Amazon price fluctuations – but now I’ll probably wait on Black Friday.
On a broader sobering note – it does seem that inflation is rearing its ugly head once again and while I don’t know how its impacting tools – my ex compatriots in the GC/Remodeling business have been significantly impacted – with those costs being reflected in much higher bid prices – and pushing clients to direct buy things like fixtures and appliances – where in the past we’d sometimes bid turnkey (furnish, deliver, install and test) jobs
James R.
Almost every field of my hobbies / interests have been hit HARD with inflation these last few months.
The prices of aluninum, steel, rubber (tires) and wood have gone through the roof.
Ammo prices were (are) pretty high, but seem to be coming down a little bit.
Fuel prices are up overall.
My Jeep has been parked for a couple of weeks now. Due to the cost of parts and fuel, I just haven’t had much motivation / interest / finances to go tinker or work on it.
Jared
Potential future Toolguyd content perhaps?
Everyone knows wood pricing has gone nuts. There’s weird price surges affecting lots of industries and markets. Recreational products stand out to me – dirt bikes, motorhomes, boats, camping gear, etc. Used car storages related to rental companies, supercapacitor supply-chain problems, reduced production capacity from shut-downs etc.
I wonder what the effects are for the tool industry.
Stuart
I really don’t want to touch the topic.
Raw material costs are up.
Component costs are up.
Shipping and freight costs are up.
Demand is up.
Discretionary spending is up since a lot of people spent far less than usual in the past year due to closures, and stimulus funds bolstered savings.
Yet whenever discussing pricing about anything with some peers and acquaintances, some will ALWAYS turn it into an opportunity for political rantings.
I know margins are down and costs (especially shipping) is up, and we’re going to see more price-hikes in different industries. But a lot of my information is too specific and not general enough to draw any conclusions from.
Plus, it can be too self-serving for me to say “prices are going up, buy what you need NOW” since we have affiliate links, especially since there’s no reliable way to predict exactly what will be increasing in price, with respect to tools, supplies, and materials of reader interest.
Around this time last year, a lot of people were worried about how COVID would impact the holiday season, but if anything sales were pushed even higher.
Pricing projections are just too messy of a topic to get into. Even mass media business reports are full of speculations and opinions, some very different from each other, and even some from individuals who would financially benefit should their recommendations drive behavioral trends.
Jared
That’s fair – I swear I wasn’t thinking of the political angle, just curious what the market is like, but I suppose it would just invite that debate. Thanks for the info!
fred
The overnight 25% increase in the cost of the Dewalt item that I was looking at – probably had little to do with raw material or other actual costs to Amazon – but probably just based on some algorithm
Jim Felt
fred. I read the other day that at least here on the West Coast lumber including plywood has fallen nearly 40% since the highs of a few months ago.
So that can’t be bad.
But IC chips are becoming scarce for all kinds of applications. It’s always something.
fred
Maybe the COVID era remodeling/construction boom is easing up and/or supplies of building materials are starting to catch up with demand. A Bull stock market, exceedingly low interest rates and many having more disposable income were certainly factors in the construction boom. While an old adage said “a rising tide floats all boats” – many folks (even those who did not get ill or die) have not benefited from the events of the last year and one half. Despite stimulus and unemployment checks many are still struggling and others are coming back to a more even keel. So its probably inevitable that the supply/demand equations for some goods will start to settle down. As many folks with jobs and means start to go back to in-person (rather than telecommute) working, apply more income to commuting, sports events, concerts, dining out etc. – I expect that we will see a slowing of spending on remodeling. In addition – should the Federal Reserve feel compelled to adjust interest rates upward to curb inflation – that will have an impact on new construction. Overall – as you say it’s always something – and as long as we are flexible and savvy enough to ride the waves and troughs of the business cycles – we should all be OK.
mattd
I grabbed a couple of the para frame knives, at $6 I figured why not.
Jay Dee
I finally grabbed the Wiha 6-in-1 after having it in my watchlist since since December.
Boyd
Got that Wera advent calendar. Been on my radar for a long time and it’s now a bargain for $30.
Now gotta figure out if I open it now or stash it until Christmas lol.
Boyd
Also stocked up on a lot of Kasa equipment. I have a lot in the house already and I find it to be by far the best smart home solution (if that’s your thing). The UI is extremely easy to use and seamless with Alexa. No hub required is a bonus.
Koko The Talking Ape
So, there’s a Spec Ops hammer. The marketing images say it is “Ballistically Balanced” and “Mil-Spec Drop Tested,” and has a “Sniper Controlled Swing” and an “MOA Grip.”
We made fun of the Spec Ops tape measures a while back. No need to do it again.
But my dad was a vet, a riflery instructor in the Korean War, and I would NEVER, EVER sport one of these BS tools, out of respect for him.
Stuart
I included the deal because sometimes a good price and bargain can still make up for marketing choices.
I figured I’d let everyone judge for themselves.
Koko The Talking Ape
Sure, and that’s nothing on you, Stuart.
But it isn’t just the marketing, it’s the brand name. If a real vet ever saw me holding a tool labeled like that, I’d feel like a sh*thead. And the 20 oz Estwing is just a few dollars more.
Anyway, it was just Father’s Day, so maybe I’m a little raw.
Joatman
Ordered a couple Wera Advent sets. Thanks Stuart!!! Your efforts behind these posts…education…tips……are why we you can’t get rid of us ! Sincerely, thanks for toolguyd!
Stuart
Thank you, I appreciate it!
According to the revision count, I updated the post 50 times today.
I reorganized all the deals, went through Amazon’s deals section one last time, as well as the anonymous affiliate logs to see if there are any new trend I should be picking up on.
Calling it a night!
As for the Wera Advent set… it’s too good to pass up at this price! I gave in and bought another set for myself.
I always wanted to part out my original set, so I could spread its components to different work areas, but I found I liked keeping the set as a whole. Having another set means I can keep one as a kit and part the other out.
Here’s the link for anyone that doesn’t want to scroll up to see what we’re talking about: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NJYQW28/?tag=toolguyd-20
Surprisingly, this is the only Wera set so far this Prime Day – usually they have more. Maybe the other deals will come tomorrow.
Richard
Wera also has 20% off of the usual insulated Kraftform Kompakt screwdriver kit, Kraftform ESD 7440 Hexagon Torque Screwdriver, Kraftform 7465 Hexagon Torque Screwdriver, and (oddly) some hex keys.
Stuart
Thank you!
Boy, these deals were elusive!
Link appears to be: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wera&rh=p_n_specials_match%3A21213697011&tag=toolguyd-20
I didn’t see the Kompakt set though.
Dan
Ordered a Wera Advent kit via the link – couldn’t resist! Thanks for the heads up. Unsurprisingly #1 in advent calendars in June 😁
Chuck
That Wera advent calendar sounded awesome, but it is now out of stock. All that is left is a third party selling it for $80.
Andy
Starrett 6 inch combination square for $60
Starrett 10H-6-4R Cast Iron Square Head Student Combination Square, 4R Graduation, 6″ Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002C1UFX2/
Stuart
Great deal – thanks!
BF
I picked up a Huepar 603CG-BT, which is a 3×360 laser level. I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale, they are running a 25% off Prime Day deal for several levels: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=huepar&rh=p_n_specials_match%3A21213697011
Huepar is not a name brand, but it has a decent reputation on Amazon and I’m hoping it works well. The price is unbeatable.
Blocky
I owned a huepar box 1g, used it heavily for 2 years and never dropped it. It checked level vs my Bosch and PLS lasers but was much lighter at about the physical size of a 25’ tape measure. Good visibility, although a little bluer. Oddly, the tripod threads on mine were never cut. I had to tap them myself.
However, one very cold day this last winter, I left it in my van overnight and when I went to use it, still very cold, the laser would stick in positions that were out of level.
Ever since then, it’s been unreliable, and I can’t say for certain whether it took a bump, simply wore out, or whatever was greasing the pendulum just wasn’t rated for freezing temps ~12F. I was not rough with it, but I used it steadily, almost daily.
Fantastic value, but baby it. Accurate until it’s not.
BF
Thanks for the heads up. I’m not a pro, so I can’t really justify $400 for a level. Mine will see pretty inconsistent usage, too.
Will
Great job on these threads man. I got a craftsman heat gun after coupon for 19.99. Not something I needed but I figured it’d be nice to have for when I do.
SCCT
Stuart – you were digging into starter / step up combination wrench sets recently. 30 piece Tekton 90192 is showing $104.25 (down from $140) on Amazon at the moment…
https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-90192-Combination-Roll-Up-Storage/dp/B07FWBPPY7
Stuart
Thanks! Looks like a good deal.
Leo B.
I jumped on this, since I don’t have a full wrench set in SAE or many wrenches at all in metric. Thanks for the heads up! I hate to spend the money, but I know that they’re a good value, especially with the warranty.
Abner Diaz
Thanks for the heads up on the dewalt benchtop planer. My dad and i have been looking at buying that exact same model for almost 3 months now. Im so glad i was able to snag it for $507 out the door. Cant wait to try it out
Koko The Talking Ape
I can recommend that Mora Companion knife. It’s incredibly ergonomic, especially if you’re used to folding knives. A legendary bargain, even at it’s regular price.
And I’ve been a fan of Bosch jigsaws for years, though I don’t have that particular model.
And this isn’t a tool, but if you use Gillete Mach3 shavers, you can get 20 for $28, about 30% off, if you’re a Prime member. These are the “sensitive” refills, but all that means is it has a gel strip. It doesn’t mean you’re any less manly.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XPRQN53/
MFC
I just picked up the 3m gel cushion connect headphones for $20. If you used discover Cashback bonus it took another 40% off.
flipped
Thanks for all the information. I found a couple of items that I know I wouldn’t have noticed had it not been for the extensive listings you created and the research you did throughout these days. Much appreciated.
