Skiswm tweeted us:
@ToolGuyd hope you post the great popular mechanics video about artisnal firewood! So funny…but in some ways probably true.

It’s not a PopMech video, but by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company), a TV and radio channel. Here is their Maker profile of “Smoke and Flame,” a company that produces “artisanal firewood.”
The video is a parody, and a nearly convincing one at that.
You could tweet us too, if you wanted to. Follow ToolGuyd on Twitter or “Like” us on Facebook. There’s also email if you wanted to get in touch that way.

Very funny! When living in Australia I learn there is always another bigger and better bullshiter just around the corner.

You know, it took twenty years to get the Log song to stop playing in my head every time I saw a tree and you just undid that in less than two minutes. Expect a bill for my therapy.

There is a caliber of individual out there who would buy this in a heartbeat. Money would be no object. All kidding aside, they exist. They’re the ones who take you from laughing to simply shaking your head.

While if you earn your own money, provided what you are using this for is doesn’t break any laws, no one can tell how to spend your money.
However, anyone that would legitimately spend $1000 on artisan wood either is a hipster or has more money than sense. Definitely not a fan of hipsters, but because their ideologies don’t match mine.

Bhaw… my firewood, is GMO free range organic…. and fair trade with no vaccinations.
Garrick
Looks like nice firewood. I’ll have to try the ginger on my next batch.

After re-watching the video I feel this sentiment needs to be added.
While yes this is video is in fact a parody, I’d rather deal with someone that genuinely is passionate about their work than someone doesn’t care at all. I’ve see more people that hate their jobs and have a sour disposition, but very rarely see anyone that is sincerely passionate about their job or their hobbies.
Think about this, that person that passionate likely happier and more productive. Happiness is a choice and for a adult, you are ultimately responsible for your actions.

Thats too funny.
The only way it would have been better is if Nick Offerman had somehow been involved.
Wonder how many people actually tried to buy this after watching the video. I’d say at least 4.
Stuart
Haha, I was thinking the same thing. Isn’t he a woodworker too?
tim
Yes,
Evidently they worked that into his character on p+r because he’s so into it.
Allegedly many of the pieces on the show he actually built.

Speaking of artisanal niche businesses, have you seen this one about pencil sharpening?
