August Tool Giveaway!

Jul 30, 2009 Stuart 17 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

Here’s the deal – we enjoy reading comments to our posts, as well as feedback and emails. We also like giving away tools to readers. Can you see where we’re going with this?

At the end of August, we’re going to give away several tools to a handful of ToolGuyd readers. In order to be eligible as a recipient, you must 1) leave at least one valid non-spammy comment in response to a ToolGuyd post or article, and 2) reside in the contiguous US.

The more you comment, the greater your chances to win a bribe reward random tool. Please keep the comments relevant, and enter a valid email address in the comment form. Comments that share opinions, feedback, and personal experiences or provide helpful or relevant information especially catch our attention.

We reserve the right to end or modify this promotion at any time. Some winners will be chosen at random, others will be chosen at our discretion. We have not yet finalized the number or type of tools that we will be giving away, but there will be at least $80 worth of swag given away to at least three readers.

Readers/commentors that reside in Canada, Hawaii, or Alaska may still be eligible for free goodies as long as shipping fees are not too cost-prohibitive.

I always like free tools. So I’ll throw my hat in the ring for this give away. I think it is a great idea to give things away to entice people to add content to your site. I just think it’s better to know what the prize is but then again surprise is pretty cool too. As long as it’s not “Honey…Guess what?…..Surprise!

on the shipping thing to at least alaska and hawaii if you use flat rate boxes the shipping is pretty reasonable. as the post office ads say if it fits it ships.

Well, once again my weekly review of this website (usually after checking out Garage Journal’s thread from Stuey) has “paid off”. I am a big fan of WERA drivers. Even though I have several sets and individual pieces of the Laser Tips, I could not pass up the 334/6 set at almost one-half price normal available pricing. Now not only will I have some ‘backup’ drivers, I pruchased an extra set to give to my Brother-in-law. He is a super guy that can do almost anything. He volunteered his time and effort to helping me remodel our ‘new-to-us’ house. He has taught me a lot, and actually gave me my first Snap On ratcheting driver (oh, so HE’S the ONE to blame, hahaha) and that started my addiction for the better tools. Between him and Stuey (advising of deals), they have started me on a journey of buying a god set of advanced and pro tools;I have spent upwards of $4000 this year . I appreciate his help, and want to get him some nice European drivers; and I think WERA is the best. Thanks for all you guys have done to help new and seasoned tool addicts. Alan

True we should all blame Stuey for the tools we buy.

Then when our wifes gather in a howling pack demanding his blood we will be able to buy more tools while they are distracted.

Sorry stuey I just had to do it.

Some of the tools may be announced ahead of time, possibly mid-month. Generally speaking, the giveaway tools will be general purpose hand tools such as wrenches or screwdrivers.

We aren’t really ruling out those residing in Alaska, Hawaii, although we’ll likely need to resort to slower USPS shipping methods in those cases, or smaller/lighter freebies. Sending freebies to Canada is a bit trickier since customs fees may come into play. We recently sent a mini prize package out to a Canadian reader, and the delivery process went rather smoothly.

uthscasaedu, comments and replies are considered the same, so don’t worry, your name’s in the hat, so to speak.

Lastly, as far as wives angry over tool purchases are concerned, use my argument – at least it’s cheaper than ______ (alcohol, drugs, other women, photography, the newest big-screen TV, a mid-life crisis convertible, therapy).

Right now hubby is using mostly hand-me-down tools from his dad & granddad! They are good tools and they get the job done – but it sure would be nice to hand him a nice shiny brand new set! He absolutely drools over the craftsman catalog!

Just started a new job as a mechanic for our public transportation system and have been piecing together my tools and would really put the Gearwrench ratcheting screwdriver set to good use. Thank you for providing this opportunity for people to win these prizes.

This is really confusing. Is this a 2011 offer or a 2009-10 offer?
Not in my nature to kiss butt in order to win a tool prize, guess old dogs
