We’re not normally into Facebook apps or add-ons, but this new one by the Sears Blue Tools Crew definitely caught our attention. A few major tool companies and distributors have been using Facebook as a way of reaching the public, but this is the first tool-ish related app that we’ve heard about. This simple Woodshop app allows […]
A few months ago, we talked about our positive first impressions of Campbell Hausfeld’s new finish nailer, which is part of a new line of Campbell Hausfeld nailers choc-full of features and designed to provide great results while being easy to use. It took us a little longer than we anticipated, but we now have enough experience with […]
We have a lot of small tools and parts laying around, and have been actively searching for good storage solutions to help get everything in order. Some of the better products that we’ve been trying out are these plastic trays by Itso.
A few weeks ago, we ordered a few Tanos Systainer storage trays from Lee Valley. These polystyrene compartmentalized storage trays are designed to fit into Systainer boxes, but we intend to use these trays in a few drawers to hold loose parts and tools.
From now until 2/14/10, Rockler Woodworking & Hardware is offering a 20% discount off of one eligible regularly priced item with coupon code V0731. This is going to be a tough one – do we get the vise we’ve had our eyes on, or a set of quality parallel clamps? Neither of these items from our wishlist […]
Dewalt recently released a whole slew of new Impact Ready bits and accessories, including twist drill bits and hole saws. We had the opportunity to give these new drill bits a spin, and as you will soon see in this review, we think they’re absolutely fantastic.
County Comm’s Screw Key is a set of two key ring sized screwdrivers that includes one Phillips driver, and one slotted driver. These mini drivers are constructed from heat treated and hardened steel, and have an industrial-looking black oxide coating. If it came down to a choice between these County Comm drivers and a Screwpop keychain tool, we […]
Ryobi’s cordless Auto Hammer is designed to drive nails up to 3-1/2″ long, operate in tight spaces, and eliminate manual hammering entirely. In fact, Ryobi claims that with their new Auto Hammer, hammering has never been easier. With claims like these, we just had to put the tool to the test! For a detailed overview of […]
Over at ProToolReviews, Tom Gaige has reviewed Husky’s 6-drawer tool chest (26PCHTHD), and rated its quality and performance as 9/10, and its value as 10/10. We recently posted about Husky’s new tool storage units, but Tom’s is the first independent review that we’ve seen. The review is quite detailed, and lauds the chest’s build quality and user-friendly […]
It’s that time of year when I try to put chaos into order and try to organize and tidy things up. As I was getting ready to order a few more Stanley 25 Compartment Organizers, I noticed that there’s a new promo on Amazon where you receive a free 12-inch soft tool bag (512100) with every $50+ order of Stanley […]
Milwaukee’s 2300-20 M-Spector AA Digital Inspection Camera is now $99 via Amazon. The M-Spector allows for the inspection and examination of difficult to reach or occluded areas, such as within walls, pipes, machinery, and other such places. This version is powered by four AA batteries, includes a 3′ water-tight flexible hose that fits through 3/4″ […]
We just noticed that the Rockwell Jawhorse is now (possibly only temporarily) priced at $161.99 on Amazon, which is 10% off the normal price of $180. The Jawhorse is eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping. It is unclear as to whether this is a permanent or short-lived price drop, but we will post an update if […]
Craftsman Labs is a small microsite that features videos of Craftsman power and hand tools being subjected to grueling tests and extreme conditions. The guys over at the Craftsman Lab are ready to make new videos and obliterate more tools, and are asking for viewers to offer tool-torture video suggestions of their own. You can check out […]
Oxmoor House is recalling nine home improvement books since they “contain errors in the technical diagrams and wiring instructions that could lead consumers to incorrectly install or repair electrical wiring, posing an electrical shock or fire hazard to consumers.” We’ve seen several posts elsewhere about this recall, but figured it couldn’t hurt to mention it ourselves. […]
We’re hoping that you guys could help us out – we’re looking for a USA distributor for Gray Tools. We know that you can find local USA dealers via the Gray Tools website, but we specifically want to source an online dealer. We had already tried asking Gray Tools about this via email, and about the […]
I recently purchased three Craftsman ball bearing storage products recently, during a decent clearance sale. I’m fairly certain that Waterloo produced these items, but I may be mistaken. Purchased were: two 2-drawer ball bearing intermediate chests, and one 6-drawer Griplatch ball bearing chest. Thus far, I’m less than fully satisfied with all three units.
I’m a huge fan of IKEA’s ALEX series of drawer units, with my favorite style being the above-pictured 6-drawer unit. While the drawers are not fully extending, they’re quite spacious, and can handle a reasonable amount of weight for their size and construction. As with most IKEA products, assembly is DIY, but everything fits together […]
ToolGuyd reader SharkBreath dropped us a note about a checkered stool he found at his local Sears. SharkBreath writes: I found these stools at my local Sears in Daytona. They are marked $24.99 on clearance from $29.99. It’s only a $5 savings, but these stools are the nice sturdy, double ring design. I already own […]
We recently found out about the Screwpop 4-in-1 keychain tool, which offers a bottle opener, #2 Phillips screwdriver bit, flathead screwdriver bit, and a 1/4″ nut driver in a tidy key-sized package. If you consider that the flathead bit can be used as an impromptu pry bar, then the Screwpop is in fact a 5-in-1 tool. […]
Just a heads-up, the 21st volume of Make: Technology on Your Time has recently been published and is now available for purchase online and at newstands We just now ordered a copy for ourselves via Amazon and then decided to spring for a subscription as well. The newstand price is $15 per volume, and while […]
