Benchcrafted Carver’s Vise Kit

Benchcrafted announced that their carver’s vise is finally ready. The vise is sold in kit form and requires assembly and a bit of woodworking to complete. Its components are made from cold rolled steel and are precisely machined (as opposed to being stamped).

As with the traditional La Forge Royale design that this vise is based off of, the rear section is the part that adjusts and moves. To give you a sense of the vise’s size, the Acme screw has a 7/8″ diameter.

The vise is attached to your bench via the included mounting screw and tool-free iron handwheel, or you can fashion a custom solution.

The hardware kit comes with all of the metal components for $379 plus shipping, and the complete kit also includes a chunk of 16/4 beech lumber for $439 plus shipping.

Both kits will be available starting 10am on Friday, May 24th, 2013.
