Big Johnson Power Tape Measure

Johnson Level’s 16′ Big Johnson Power Tape is one heck of a nice tape measure! The Big J is durable, extremely easy to read, has a great locking mechanism, and includes a handy detachable belt clip.

I’m a huge fan of these tape measures because they’re comfortable to use, and the blade has great contrast making it quick and easy to read. The blade locking mechanism is also among the best I’ve seen, and operates smoothly with satisfying efficiency. I would even go as far to say that the Big J is one of the best tape measures I have ever used.

The 16′ Big Johnson tape is typically priced at about $18, but only seems to be available via Amazon. I also noticed that Big J isn’t listed anywhere on Johnson Level & Tool’s webpage – I sure hope that it hasn’t been discontinued!

I might make the 25 foot model available again at my store at Amazon.com. I believe these are made in England. Check after April 24, 2012.

Hi Robert, these tapes are indeed made in England by a company called Fisco. As far as I know they are then sold on and rebranded in the States as Big Johnson… I run a business specialising in tape/laser measures in the UK and we sell quite a lot of them… Ours are generally metric or metric/imperial (in/ft). The imperial only version is not available in the UK unfortunately.

This style of tape is made by Fisco in the UK. Several of these “Fisco Big T” measuring tapes are usually available via Sears.com.

AWWW man!! I have been looking for another for my hubby for almost an hour now. He also got his at Ollie’s and LOVES it. Not sure what I can find that he might like as well. Anyone know of another brand that detaches from the belt in the same manner?

      Fisco “Big T”

Looks like only the 12-foot model is still in stock.

I tend to measure my big Johnson using mm/cm. I find the smaller increments really help boost my ego and online dating profile.
