We recently reviewed Black & Decker’s motion-controlled Gryo screwdriver, and have since received a couple of questions about the Gyro’s angles of operation. Some readers expressed concern that the Gyro can only be used in a horizontal orientation. We tested the Gyro as thoroughly as possible and have found that it will work in any direction and orientation.

Normally I don’t go for gimmicky tools, but I couldn’t resist the draw of this one. The packaging it comes in exposes the handle and the driver is fully charged allowing anyone to give the thing a test run in the store. The gyro works well in any position. What makes this little driver work well for me is the fluid motions when loosening and tightening screws. Breaking loose screws is a matter of putting the bit into a screw, squeezing the handle and giving a counterclockwise twist of the wrist. If the fastener is tighter than the capabilities of the driver, the chuck locks transferring the full force applied to the handle into the bit. This will break loose the screw and the motor will take over. Likewise, tightening lets you speed the screw in, then give a final tightening twist of the wrist if needed.
This is the only small driver I’ve had that is actually variable speed, another plus. I use these little drivers for electronics repair, electrical installs and auto interiors. I had to pull apart a TV set tonight for a quick fix and the little driver was perfect for the job. It’s not perfect, the headlight could be a bit more focused toward the chuck, adding a second light under the chuck would make for shadow-free lighting at the chuck. I popped mine open to peek inside, it’s solidly made and the electronics are quite involved. A single 18650 Li cell provides the power, and could be replaced easily when needed. The transmission is mostly plastic. It can be used with the charging cord connected. I like the little thing.

I have one of these for a start it worked reel good as I am disabled but after a while(warranty expired) when you pick it up it will turn only one way then you try again later it will turn only the opposite way some times works properly but in any event it has never done a lot of work
