Workshop Wet Dry Vacuum WS1600VA

A new deal kicked off today, on this WorkShop 6.5 peak HP 16 gallon wet/dry vac. It comes with a selection of accessories and attachments, and a 2-1/2″ x 7-foot dual-flex locking hose.

The vac is also rated to last an average of 960 motor hours, which seems impressive.

  • 169 CFM airflow
  • Sealed suction of 46″
  • 265 watts max airwatts (overall suction)
  • Auto shut-off float (to prevent overflow during wet pickups)
  • Large drain

I’m not very familiar with the WorkShop brand, but Amazon says they’re made by Emerson, who also manufactures Ridgid vacuums for Home Depot. Emerson isn’t a slouch when it comes to wet/dry shop vacuums.

There seems to be plenty of good user reviews.

Was: $122.57

Sale Price: $98

This looks better than the Shop Vac deal I bought last year or the previous year. Despite my frustrations with that Shop Vac, it’s still in great shape. *Kicks Shop Vac down the stairs.* Whoops, maybe I should jump on this deal.

    Hey Stuart,

How do you feel about this compared to the 14-gal Ridgid that is in the Home Depot online-only ad?

    Thanks,

The Ridgid has a longer hose and some interesting accessories, and is a good deal if you can sue that “auto detailing” kit.

This WorkShop vac looks to be stouter, which could make it more stable and less prone to tip-over. It also has the hose attachment to the top, which is different than what is usual. This could make it easier to empty and manage during certain types of cleanups, or it could be a bump in capacity.

The WorkShop looks similar to the Ridgid WD1280, but with a bump-up in capacity and power rating, and I believe an extra nozzle too. That Ridgid is priced at $99 and has very good reviews.

      Tough call.

I think I’d prefer the WorkShop shown here, because I’d be paying for accessories I’m more inclined to use. With the Ridgid, there are some things there, such as the extra hose or stock hose, and some of the nozzles, that are unneeded or redundant.

I bought a Ridgid vac on black friday 2010 that looks very similar to this one for $29!
