I came across a good-looking deal on this Bosch rotary hammer and angle grinder bundle.
Looking around, you can buy the Bosch 11255VSR Bulldog Xtreme rotary hammer for $199. But there’s also a new special holiday season bundle – at least that’s what it looks like – that includes the same rotary hammer plus a Bosch 4-1/2″ angle grinder, GWS8, for the same price.

A quick search shows that the grinder retailers for $59, or in a 2-pack for $89.
If you were looking at this SDS-plus 1″ rotary hammer anyways, it’s a sweet deal to spend the same and get a bundled grinder, seemingly for free.
At Amazon, neither the rotary hammer by itself or the special bundle look to be eligible for their $30 off $149+ discount.
At Acme Tool, the 2-tool special bundle IS eligible for their 11% off Bosch discount, taking nearly $22 off the price.
Price: $199
Lowest Price: $177.11 at Acme Tool
At Acme Tool, shipping is free if you spend $199+. Since their system looks at the after-coupon total, you’ll need to add $22 or $23 to your order to be eligible for free shipping.

(It takes $22, rounded up, to get to $199, but my cart says I’m $23 away from free shipping. Weird.)

That’s a solid deal and I’d recommend for anyone who needs to drill (or chip) concrete or masonry/ tile. Also for various demo, even some digging in tough soil. For non pro’s the drill should last a lifetime.
I got a similar set, but makita version from home depot maybe 8 years ago (I think the price was the same) and don’t regret it at all. This drill is a step up from mine too. (knowing what I do now I would pay $25 more for this set over mine)

We did not have this rotohammer – but had a few other SDS (Plus and Max) ones from Bosch. For what they were meant to do they were very good tools. As Jeremiah says – these tools are primarily meant for drilling – but can do some light chipping. As you move up in size (price too) SDS max tools can also do some, light breaking, chiseling and scraping (as in thinset removal) with the appropriate. While they sell larger bullpoints and clay spades for SDS Max tools – we’d always move up to a pneumatic jackhammer if we were doing things like breaking up a sidewalk.

I’ve got the grinder (or similar 5 inch version). It’s lightweight, slim and smooth running. Definitely good value. No tool free guard is annoying but it’s still my go to grinder. Being slim means it’s easy to hold.

I looked closely at this deal at Lowe’s yesterday. I ended up choosing the Bosch GBH2-28L instead. (Normally $259 on sale for $199) If I needed the grinder this would have been the better deal. But since I didn’t, for the same price I got a rotary hammer with more power, a slightly improved design (with anti-kickback and Counter-balanced vibration control), and made in Germany instead of Mexico.
