Bosch GLL25-10 Laser Level

I briefly mentioned this (new?) Bosch cross-line laser level, Bosch GLL25-10, at the end of a deal post about a different Bosch laser model, and it seems interesting enough to warrant its own post.

Over at Amazon, this compact-looking cross-line laser is priced at $44, and with a $10 “clippable” coupon you can apply to drop the price down to $34.

$40 is a very good price for a pro-brand laser level, $34 is even better.

I don’t know much about this relatively new Bosch laser. The only email I’ve ever had from Bosch USA about this GLL25-10 model was a 2018 Black Friday deal notice, when this laser was on sale for $45.

From the product imagery, this appears to be a relatively compact and basic design.

The Bosch GLL25-10 features what appears to be a sliding laser shutter, and it comes with an adjustable clamp.

Its red laser is said to have a 30-foot range, and accuracy of ±5/16″ at 30′, which is the same as the GLL30 that’s also on sale right now.

Bosch GLL25-10 Laser Level Google Search

The laser has a self-leveling pendulum system, although I cannot find any information about its operational angular range. For that matter, I could not even find this model listed on Bosch USA’s website.

This looks to be a very good value. But, it also looks like it was designed to be an inexpensive holiday season gift item. User reviews on Amazon seem to be positive overall.

If you buy one, please let us know what you think!

Price: $43.77 – $10 coupon = $33.77

This looks like a rebranded version of the Bosch Quigo, which is part of Bosch’s green DIY range in Europe. It has a self-levelling range of +/-4°, so I’d assume the same for this unit.

Nice find – thanks! I would assume the same as well.

What’s interesting is that the Quigo is much higher priced in the UK than this model is here. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Quigo-Cross-Laser-Tripod/dp/B00DRDM1Q8/?tag=toolguyd-21

They also have the Quigo with a green laser.

There’s also a Quigo Plus, which adds equidistant cross markings on both laser lines. But yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen even the base model drop under €40 in Europe, and it’s the cheapest laser in Bosch’s lineup.

Does the UK price include VAT which could account for a higher price?

When I buy things (of any substantial cost) in Europe – I always inquire about the potential for VAT refund. Many retailers have the forms and if you meet the threshold for spending will fill them out for you. Some of the big department stores (like Selfridges, Harrods, Printemps, El Corte and Rinascente) have whole sections – some with lounges for this purpose. I carry a photocopy of my passport picture page with me to facilitate the process. Then – depending on which airport you are departing the EU from – back to the USA – the process of showing the goods and having the forms stamped/submitted can be easy or a hassle or anything in between – leaving the decision about the value of proceeding up to you.

Yes, but it comes off for USA customers at checkout.

Still – the USA model is very aggressively priced for the holidays right now.

I don’t think I have ever been charged VAT on my Amazon UK, DE, or even recent JP tool orders.

Based on my long-term French expat experience, the process of removing VAT was always pretty involved. I’ve never seen it removed automatically, you would normally have to claim it back.
HOWEVER, i just checked on a very recent purchase on Amazon France, and it seems the VAT was removed and the massachusetts sales tax was applied instead ??!?!???!?!

            Mind blown.

It was a books purchase which normally get taxed 5.5% but instead i see a 6.25% on them.
