Bosch Drill Press PBD 40
This Bosch UK or EU product is not available in the USA.

I was reading Tool Rank’s post about a neat Bosh push-pull table saw that’s only available in the UK/EU, and remembered about another Bosch DIY tool I wish was available in the USA – their PBD 40 bench drill. The PBD 40 is a compact drill press that incorporates some very nice features for DIYers, hobbyists, and pros.

  • Electronic variable speed adjustment
  • 2-speed gearbox
  • Keyless chuck
  • Extremely small footprint
  • Digital drilling depth display
  • Built-in quick release clamp
  • Large base plate/table with T-slots for vise and parallel guide

The green-colored plastic indicates that this product is more aimed at DIYers than professional and industrial users, but it looks fairly robust and nicely featured to me.

Bosch Drill Press Features

I have a 10″ Craftsman benchtop drill press, and while it gets the job done it’s large, bulky, and heavy. Bosch managed to put together what seems to be a much more capable and user-friendly machine that looks perfect for light and medium-duty drilling tasks in wood, plastic, and metal. Too bad it’s currently not available in the USA.

Bosch Drill Press Usage

The PBD 40 drill press is priced at £270-300, or about $435-480.
