Over in Europe, Bosch has come out with the new GLM 50-27 C Professional, an advanced laser distance measuring tool.
The Bosch GLM 50-27 C is said to be a fast, reliable, and extremely robust laser distance measuring tool that’s suited for use on rough construction sites.

The Bosch GLM 50-27 C is a red laser distance measuring tool, but I also came across another image online that shows off what could be a green laser version of this tool.
I couldn’t find any additional details about the potential green laser distance measuring tool, other than a model number – GLM 50-27 CG.
The red laser, Bosch GLM 50-27 C, is said to have a 50-meter range (~164ft), IP65 dust and water resistance, and Bluetooth connectivity for use with a Bosch smartphone app.
As if its large color display and water resistant construction wasn’t enough, the new Bosch laser distance measuring tool also doubles as an angle measurement device, capable of measuring inclines of any angle from 0 to 360° with ±0.2° accuracy.

There are additional features which seem straightforward and very useful, such as a “flip display” that suggests automatic self-correction when the tool is being used upside down, and vibration feedback which signals successful measurements.
Price: 179 EUR (~$212 USD)
This new model looks to be a HUGE upgraded compared to the Bosch Blaze GLM 50C that’s available in the USA.
At this time, there is no indication as to if or when the new Bosch GLM 50-27 C and GLM 50-27 CG laser distance measuring tools might launch in the USA.
In the meantime, the GLM 50C is on sale for $99 right now.

Just a quick heads up for your readers who may be purchasing (or may already have) the GLM 50 C. The leveling functions require calibration, which I only discovered last week, after calling Bosch about my unit being out of level. Strangely, they suggested taking it to a service center, and made no mention of a calibration procedure. I only discovered the calibration procedure when looking in the manual to check what the claimed tolerance is.

I’ll be interested to read reviews of the screen readability, particularly
a) display size of fractional units
b) color and contrast of display (above images seem to show several variants of light and dark backgrounds, with contrasting fonts).

You can expect these in the US the first half of 2021 and will follow the GLM165 nomenclature already used in the US. New features will include upgraded robust housing, haptic feedback, dual power source with li-ion pack available, and fractional rounding.
