Bosch OMT Multi-Material Blade

Bosch has teased us with a video of a new carbide-edged oscillating multi-tool blade that is engineered to cut through different types of materials.

The new OSC134C multi-material blade has a plunge-cutting geometry and has a 1-3/4″ wide cutting edge. It’s said to last up to 30 times longer compared to bi-metal blades. Based on my experience with Bosch’s carbide metal-cutting blade that I thoroughly tested, I don’t doubt these claims one bit.

You can use the new blade to cut hard screws, bolts, nails, other metals, and also other materials such as wood and plastic. Bosch’s promo video also shows the blade being used to cut what looks to be wall tiling.

Price: $25 per blade, and there will probable be multi-pack discount options.

The new blade can be used with any OIS-compatible oscillating multi-tool.

Looks like a great blade and I like that they cut a DeWalt oscillating multi-tool in half they paint it gray but they make sure that you see yellow.

Good eye! I totally didn’t catch that! After watching it again, yep, that’s definitely a Dewalt tool they’re cutting through!

Just wondering what the difference this carbide blade is from the ones tested earlier by Stuart/ToolGuyd. Other than width, the tooth shape appears to be the same as well as the teeth per inch.

As you mentioned, it’s wider. Other than that, there might not be any differences. I doubt it, but maybe the tooth spacing is slightly wider to accommodate larger chips? I won’t know for certain until I have one in-hand or see it in person.
