New Bosch (UK/EU) Orbital Sanders with Vibration Dampening

Bosch has two new orbital sanders coming to the EU market, the 1/3-sheet GSS 230 AVE and 1/2-sheet GSS 280 AVE. The new sanders offer improvements in ergonomics, dust collection, and vibration dampening.

Features:

• no-load speed of 8,000-11,000 RPM
• no-load orbital stroke rate of 16,000-22,000 OPM
• oscillating range of 2.4mm
• works with Velcro-backed sanding pads or plain-backed paper
• includes paper hole punch plate to create dust extraction holes
• dust canister with microfilter
• built-in vacuum hose connector
• removable auxiliary handle
• tool-free blade clamps

The smaller 1/3-sheet sander is rated at 300W and the 1/2-sheet sander at 350W.

Bosch brought similar vibration dampening and dust collection features to their random orbital ROS65VC sanders earlier this year, so we might see the 1/3- and 1/2-sheet sanders released here as well. We probably won’t see these features in any new 1/4-sheet finish sanders, due to price, size, and typical usage considerations.

These sanders are built – and priced – for professional users who need controlled and uniform material removal.
