Scott wrote in about a deal on a Bosch sander that he’s wondering is too good to pass up.
I’ve been a fan of your site for a while and gathered that Bosch is a reliable brand, especially for homeowner DIY tasks. I’ve had my eye or the below Bosch Random Orbital Sander and it seems to have dropped quite a bit to $59. I don’t have a need for this RIGHT now but at that price is this something worth snatching up now?
The model he’s talking about is the Bosch ROS20VSC that we said would be our best random orbit sander under $100 pick.
I’ve had great experiences with my Bosch finish sander, and would also have a Bosch random orbit sander in my kit if Home Depot had carried them back when I bought my Ridgid sander with a gift card.
This sander is normally priced at $69, but now it’s $59. $10 savings isn’t huge, but that’s still $10 extra to spend on sanding sheets or other accessories.
I own quite a few tools that I bought on sale because they were on sale, but haven’t used yet. The prices were great, and I thought I’d definitely use the tools, but things don’t always turn out that way.
I don’t think this deal is too good to pass up. If you pass on it and regret the decision, you can always buy it later. If the $59 price on Amazon is due to a temporary price reduction, then having to spend an extra $10 later on won’t be too painful on the wallet.
Other retailers still show a price of $69, and so I’m thinking the discount might be temporary. There’s no real way to tell.

Update: As mentioned, the price reduction is part of a new March thru April 2015 sales promo. There are a couple of other tools currently being discounted as part of the same promo. See other Bosch sale items.
This deal was originally posted on Feb 2nd, 2015, and republished on March 2nd, 2015 when the deal returned as part of a larger sale.
