Bosch Blaze Contest December 2019

Bosch is sponsoring ToolGuyd this week (thank you!), and is hosting a new giveaway where you could win 1 of 300 Ultimate Blaze Kit prizes.

The contest is centered around their Ultimate Blaze Kit, consisting of a Bosch GLM 50C laser distance measuring tool, plus some swag.

I’m sure most of you have seen the related banner ad on ToolGuyd by now, and if not, scroll down the page and you’ll see it there.

Bosch Blaze Contest December 2019 Prize

Why should you enter? Well, Bosch’s laser distance measuring tools are highly recommended, and the GLM 50C is a sweet kit. It features a 165′ measurement range and accuracy of ±1/16″. There’s a built-in inclinometer, Bluetooth connectivity, a color backlit display, memory, area and volume calculations, indirect measuring, and long runtime (up to 10,000 measurements).

I love Bosch’s laser distance measuring tools – especially their one-button models such as the GLM 20. Bosch’s simpler lasers are well-suited for most of my needs, but I know that pros often need more.

It’s quite impressive how far Bosch’s laser distance measuring tools have come in recent years – this one packs a lot of modern features and functionality, not to mention high accuracy, and for less than $100.

If you have any questions, please let me know – I have a Bosch GLM 50C laser distance measuring tool in-hand (for vetting purposes before I could promote this contest).

Frankly, it seems like a fun contest, it’s easy to enter, and the prize is enticing.

Do you want one? Bosch is giving away prizes to the 300 most creative entries.

Right now, we’re a couple of days into the contest, and there are less than 300 entries so far, which makes for very good chances.

Here’s how you enter:

Step 1: Create a photo or video, showing off the essentials of your tool belt or tool bag.

Step 2: Share it on Instagram, tagging @BoschtoolsNA, and use the #toolbelttetriscontest hashtag in your post.

The contest is open for entries through 12/18/2019.

Your entry should look something like this, but with tools from your belt, pouch, bag, or other daily carry:

If you can, I’d love to see your entries – you can send them to me at @toolguyd so I can see them too!

You can see some entry examples here, and I’ve embedded a couple below.

If you need full contest details, click the banner ad at anytime, and it’ll take you to Bosch’s contest webpage.

Bosch Canada (@boschtoolscanada, #toolbelttetriscontestca) is also hosting a similar contest, and they have 40 prizes to give away.

Here are some example entries, if you need inspiration:

This illegal in some states – requiring a social media account is called consideration, which means that is is lottery, not a giveaway. Lotteries are regulated.

Brands and influencers have social media-based contests and giveaways all the time. We have web-based giveaways on occasion.

If you want to get into the semantics of it, this is a contest where the 300 most creative entries win, not a giveaway. IF it can be considered that social media entry constitutes consideration, then that’s still only 2/3 elements and so it’s not a lottery.

The Bosch email that I got asked me to find a “hidden link” in the email to enter the drawing of only “10 people”.

“Find the hidden link in this email, and fill out the form
after clicking. We will randomly select ten people,
            who will receive a BLAZE™ GLM165-27CGL
            Connected Green-Beam 165′ Laser Measure.”

Sounds like a gimmick to make people waste their time clicking on every spot were the cursor shows a link.

And then I get this Toolguyd review saying 300 Blaze lasers will be given out. It might not be a lottery but it sure sounds like a gamed advertising gimmick to me. I don’t like being manipulated like this.

I received the same Bosch email, and it came across as really weird to me too.

As for what I posted about here, this giveaway ended in 2019 (as mentioned in the headline and post contents).

It’s not a lottery or consideration, it’s a contest. There is no element of chance.

It is consideration, when you ask someone to go to a third party site for which you have not control over nor a contract

I don’t come for the promotions. But, last year, I prevailed over one of those big companies. It was was big international amusement park that was hosting a tournament that my team attend. They required Facebook accounts to even ask questions. It was the same argument and we prevailed.

It is very sad, but most people don’t know about this, and most corporations don’t bother either. and signing up for a social media account is not free. The amount of information that these sites collect you is so onerous, that was called consideration in one case my attorney found.
Facebook not only collects information that you willingly submit, but they track financial information, credit information, and they even sort through the photos on your drive and tag faces.

I don’t have the time to look for articles right now, but here is a quick one.

To Farid, can’t reply to the specific comment.

It isn’t consideration because as you said the company doesn’t have a contract with the social media site. It would only be consideration if the company required a form of payment. They get nothing from you being on Instagram, so it isn’t payment. Plus it was only advertised on Instagram so it didn’t require you to visit another site.

Even if that is proven to be consideration, there is no chance. So it still isn’t a lottery. It’s skill based with a set of criteria for scoring. It’s a contest.
