By now you might have noticed that Bosch is an advertiser on ToolGuyd for a couple of weeks this quarter. The ad appears in the sidebar on the right side of the page, half-way down. Don’t worry if you look and don’t see it, as it only appears sometimes.
The ad promotes their sweepstakes, which you could enter to win select power tools or the grand prize of a RAM 1500 truck.

You can enter the Bosch sweepstakes once a day for more chances to win.
ToolGuyd doesn’t include editorial content as part of ad deals – that’s just not how we roll. Bosch asked nicely if we would post about the sweepstakes, I said probably. I decided I would, because hey, it’s a reasonable promo, and wouldn’t it be cool if ToolGuyd readers won some new Bosch tools? Even better – what if a ToolGuyd reader won that RAM truck?! That’d be awesome.
But I then thought to myself that I could just post about the sweepstakes, but why not do a little more. So I asked if we could get some new Bosch products for a ToolGuyd-specific giveaway. A little back and forth, and they agreed to provide two cordless tool kit prizes, just for you guys.
A Bosch 18V brushless hybrid impact driver and wrench wireless charging bundle, model IDH182WC-102.
These kits sell for $300 via Amazon.
This is so new that I haven’t even gotten my hands on a test sample yet. These kits, and the wireless charging tech, just hit the market this month.
Why it’s Hot
First, you get Bosch’s latest 18V brushless hybrid impact driver and wrench. It has a 1/4″ hex chuck AND a 1/2″ square drive. This makes it a great tool for driving screws, lag bolts, and all kinds of fasteners. It’s not meant for automotive work, but you might be able to use it on looser lug nuts.
Max torque is 1650 in-lbs, and there are two lower speed and torque settings that improve control and reduce risk of fastener damage when working with smaller screws and bolts.
This would be a nice giveaway prize by itself, but you also get a wireless charging package that includes a wireless charger, charging frame, and 18V 2.0Ah battery pack.
We’re trying to convince Bosch to splurge and provide the wall and bench-mountable drill and driver holster with each prize package as well, but right now that’s uncertain.
I have briefly tested the hybrid impact tool, and really like it. It’s not as compact as other impact drivers, but it’s a nice 2-in-1 combo tool with great power, ergonomics, and runtime. I haven’t tested the wireless/inductive charging tech yet, but my experience with Bosch tools makes me confident that it’s as good as it looks.
I have a wireless/inductive charger for my cell phone, and it’s a HUGE convenience. With Bosch’s system, it means that the battery gets recharged, at least partially, every time you put the drill or driver down.
I am excited about this new inductive charging system, but know that not all users will see or reap the benefits of the new system. Even if you don’t quite have an immediate use for the wireless charging tech, you can use the 18V battery and tool with any of Bosch’s other 18V batteries, chargers, and tools.
How to Enter
Leave a comment below, telling me what you would use the prize package for. Or simply tell me what you think about the wireless charging technology.
As another entry option, how about a haiku poem? Maybe a knock-knock joke? I read EVERY comment and entry, and appreciate a change in pace every now and then.
Please don’t just say “I want to win,” or “pick me,” or “throw my name into the hat,” or anything that effect.
(2) winners will be selected at random.
You must have a non-PO Box continental USA address. Entry period ends Monday December 15th, 2014. One entry per person.
Bosch is supplying the products for the giveaway and will ship the prizes directly to each winner.
Sweepstakes & More Chances to Win
As mentioned, there are extra chances to win some new Bosch tools, through their separate sweepstakes. You can enter the sweepstakes EVERY DAY for even more chances to win.
I entered once to check out the process, although I’m probably not eligible to win anything. You supply your contact info, and then click another button to enter. It says you have to watch a quick video before entering, but I don’t think the entry process is set up to require this.
The next day, you simply have to “log in” with your email address to make an additional entry.
