Carhartt Tool Bag

Over at Amazon, buried in their Black Friday 2018 tool deals listings is a trio of Carhartt tool storage products.

I’ve seen the tool roll before, and probably the others too. There’s nothing like a big discount to prompt a closer look.

Shown here is the Carhartt 14″ tool bag, with “Rain Defender” treatment, “triple stitch construction,” YKK zippers, and large handles.

Carhartt Tool Bag Inside Pockets

It features 17″ exterior pockets, and 10 interior ones.

Price: $32.51

(There’s also a black version, for a couple of dollars more.)

Carhartt Tool Roll Brown Open

The 18-pouch tool roll is also on sale. In addition to the different-sized slots for hand tools, there’s a hook-and-loop-covered section with 3 small parts pockets.

Carhartt Tool Roll Brown Closed

It rolls up for compact storage, and is held closed using two side-release handles.

Carhartt Tool Roll Black Open

Carhartt makes their tool roll in brown and black, and both are the same price right now.

Price: $20

Carhartt Gear Bag

Lastly, there’s a 23″ gear bag, a duffle bag that’ll match you Carhartt pants and tool bag. Looks like a good duffle bag, too.

Price: $60

If you’ve used Carhartt tool bags (or duffels) before, what did you think of them?

I have a bag that looks similar to the first one shown although slightly larger which is my No bag as in “No I am sorry you cannot borrow any of these tools.”. When I saw the bag the idea immediately came to mind.

It contains specialised chisels and hammers, Japanese marking knives, etc the tools like the bag itself are not necessarily selected because of their cost but being well made, hard to replace and making me smile when I pick them up are also factors. I suspect (hope) that I am not alone in this.

i like tool rolls and have a a couple of them set up that i carry in tractors and trucks. my biggest complaint with all of them is the three small pockets covered with velcro.

what is the purpose of them? one would think it would be for sockets but who wants loose sockets in a tool roll? i would much rather see a long, closable pocket that would hold a socket rail or two with sockets .

Tool bags like these appeal to me, but the external pockets make me immediately think “lost stuff, dammit”, The internal pockets are a little better but the overall unstructured construction has usually left them empty too. And whatever I seem to need from the main body of the bag always seems to be at the bottom.

My Veto Pro bags fix all of that.

I carried all my tools on Afghanistan in two rolls just like those. They fit in backpacks nicely and keep things organized.
