We first previewed this Campbell Hausfeld 12V inflator when it came out last fall, and recently received one for hands-on review. The inflator is designed to be as quick and easy to use as possible, and it does not disappoint. That’s why we’ve given this inflator “gift guide” status. To use the inflator, plug the power adapter into your vehicle’s […]
Here’s our full hands-on review of Kobalt’s new Multi Drive Wrench. Part 1 showed covered “fastener fit“, and this review covers quality and hands-on performance.
Right now my work area is in a state of extreme disarray, but I tend to be very particular about how I organize and store my tools. A tool that I cannot find is a tool I may as well not even own. To help get myself reorganized, I’ve come up with a logical 5-step […]
We took a look through Amazon’s many early Black Friday tool deals, and hand-picked the best deals from the good ones. Check ’em out!
Over at Bolty.net, Stacy’s written a series of tutorials on Soldering Techniques for the Reluctant Motorcyclist. The articles are well written with great visuals, with the most recent one discussing how to tap a wire. These procedures mainly deal with the larger gauge wires used in motorcycle and auto systems, but can be carried over to general purpose and […]

The bench tops are 1-3/4″ thick and are sanded smoth with a UV-cured acrylic finish that’s resistent to water, alcohol and solvent detergents. Dan sent us a heads-up about Husky’s new universal spline ratcheting wrench. I was already heading off to Home Depot that day, so I made a point to check it out. This Husky 48-in-1 “ratcheting rotary socket wrench” is essentially a universal dog bone wrench similar in design to Black & Decker’s new ratcheting ReadyWrench.
Vanilla Ice has got his own show on the DIY Network. The show covers the room-to-room renovation of a 7,000-square-foot Palm Beach mansion. Did you know that Vanilla Ice has been working as a general contractor for 15 years? Neither did I. Check out The Vanilla Ice Project over at the DIY Network on Thusdays […]
The Toro 51599 electric blower & vacuum costs a little more than bare-basic blower models, but at around $70 it’s still extremely affordable. It features a metal impeller, 235mph and 255cfm maximum airflow, lightweight 7-1/2 lb weight, integrated leaf shredder blades, and a variable speed motor. If I were in the market for a new […]
Over at the ShopNGarage forum, Steve posted a project log and tutorial on how to build a blast cabinet dust separator. The separator is designed to prolong the life of a shop vacuum and increase its efficiency by filtering out fine abrasive dust that can damage the motor. Steve’s design is built with a 2 gallon bucket, PVC […]
Hot on the heels of their compressor air inflation combo kits, Campbell Hausfeld has introduced four air-powered home project kits aiming to provide DIYers with the right tools they need for a particular project or series or projects. At the center of each kit is a 1 or 2 gallon air compressor that can deliver up […]
Worx’s TriVac 3-in-1 electric blower/mulcher/vacuum is lightweight at less than 8-1/2 lbs while still being powerful and efficient. An air regulator allows for light blowing, and the TriVac changes operating modes at the flip of a switch. The 12amp motor operates off 120V, although the product specs don’t mention how long the cord is. At about […]
Great Neck’s new Essentials for the Home tools are designed to be more ergonomic and comfortable for women’s smaller hands and body frames. While not all decked out in pink, these tools do have a non-offensive feminine styling. I’ve got to say, it’s GREAT to see new tools for women that aren’t pink and flowery. No offense […]
In response to our post about Jeff’s new DIY red oak hex bit holder, Scott emailed in a few tips about which types of wood are best for similar steel-bit holder projects.
Red Toolbox’s T010-F workbench is a fold-away tool center meant for use by children, and yet it incorporates many well though out features that I can see being very handy for adult use. It has a 24″ x 17.5″ work surface, built-in tool storage, an integrated vise, and what appears to be a somewhat sturdy steel […]
A few people have asked about where to find the new Rockwell JawStand. It looks like it was just added to Woodcraft’s catalog, which is great because their $15 off $75 and free shipping promo is still ongoing. The JawStand is priced at $70, so you’ll need $5 of “fillers” to take advantage of the […]
Proper tire inflation provides for optimal performance and fuel economy, but also makes your vehicle safer to drive. Many drivers are conscious of this, but not everyone has the space, budget, or need for a large air compressor. Campbell Hausfeld is introducing several smaller air inflation kits designed for proper inflation of tires and common household items.
You may have noticed a drop in the number of posts here on ToolGuyd, and there’s a good reason for that. Aside from working on a few new reviews, I had been reading up on how to build a small CNC machine.
