Looking for a decent flashlight that doesn’t cost a fortune? Check out the Nebo Redline, which can be found for about $25. It’s not built to Surefire or even Fenix standards, but it’s actually quite nice. Read More
My wife’s coworkers don’t approve of the flashlight I gave her to keep in her desk. Go figure. Read More
This Streamlight Stylus Pro is by far my most well-used LED flashlight. I carry one around with me nearly every day, and after 30 months of use, it’s still going strong! The Stylus Pro is also one of my favorite items to gift to people. Most of my friends and family members don’t carry flashlight around with them, […]
Nebo’s Redline (#5557) is a high-output flashlight in a relatively compact and attractive package. It’s pretty affordable as well at under $30, so we figured why not, let’s review one.
Dewalt is releasing a new LED work light (DCL510) as part of their upcoming 12V MAX compact cordless tool product family. Its single LED (I believe it’s a CREE) outputs 130 lumens of light, and the entire head rotates 360° and pivots 180° (give or take). The work light is also magnetic and featutes a kick […]
Sanyo’s Eneloop batteries differ from ordinary NiMH rechargeable batteries by featuring a very slow self-discharge rate. In fact, Eneloops are shipped fully charged and ready to go. I’ve already switched over to using Eneloops over other rechargeable battery brands, and even use them in place of alkalines in many applications. Eneloops and other slow self-discharge batteries are said […]
Over at my local Home Depot, I spotted a display of 15 cheap flashlights for $15. Each flashlight features 6 LEDs, and batteries are included. These are similar to the generic flashlights sold at Amazon, Meritline, and Harbor Freight. These flashlights aren’t reliable enough to count on in an emergency situation, nor are they durable enough […]
Maglite has updated their relatively popular line of 2 x AA LED flashlights. Most notable, the new model (SP22?) features an electronic switch, which allows users to operate the flashlight at 100% power, 25% power, blink, or S.O.S. modes. According to the product packaging, the LED outputs 69 lumens, and the battery runtime is 18 […]
In my search for a new AA LED flashlight, I came across the Fenix LD20. Featuring 4 light levels and 2 strobe settings, this 6″ waterproof T6 aircraft-grade aluminum flashlight looks to be an excellent EDC (every day carry) light. A quick google search brings up many positive reviews.
Joby’s flex-leg Gorillatorch flashlight was introduced months ago, and it appears to have become quite popular. We certainly love it! Since then Joby has released new colored versions of the Gorillatorch, in yellow, orange, and blue. Joby is now launching the Gorillatorch Flare, a new higher-powered and more feature-rich version.
Inova’s X5 is a great LED flashlight at an affordable price. The X5 features 5 LEDs that output a maximum of 60 lumens, has a durable aerospace-grade aluminum body, and runs on CR123 lithium batteries. Like Inova’s other X-series flashlights, the X5 has a knurled twist switch, and machined flats around its body that makes the flashlight […]
Joby just added a new magnetic flexible legged mini tripod to their Gorillapod lineup. Our biggest gripe with the Gorillatorch, although minor, is that we could not [easily] modify it for use with 3rd party flashlights. Although the new Gorillapod Magnetic is intended for use with P&S cameras, it shouldn’t be too difficult to craft a custom […]
We recently posted our suggested Holiday Gift Guide, and before that we predicted which tools will sell very well during this holiday shopping season. Today, we’ll tell you about three of the tools that we are gifting to friends and family this year.
Over at Amazon, Stanley’s 3-in-1 LED flashlight is on sale for $21. Featuring a compact tripod base and three separately removable flashlight units, each with a pivoting multi-directional head, this is a rather versatile worklight. Stanley’s 95-155 3-in-1 flashlight typically retails for $30, so $21 is a decent bargain. We are waiting to see if the […]
We recently mentioned the Stanley Squidlite, a flexible tripod work light. Since then, we have received new information about the light, as well as a user’s firsthand experience with it.
Behold, Stanley’s flexible tripod work light – the SquidBrite. Featuring a rechargeable battery and magnetic back, this looks to be a rather versatile work light. The lamp appears to have twenty LEDs, but there is no word yet as to whether there is a variable output switch. An alternative work light at a similar price […]
Technically, the above pictured “Snap-on” 75W “cordless” “heavy duty” drop work light is cordless since it it sold without a power cord. The lamp accepts 75W incandescent bulbs, and relies on a user-supplied 3-prong extension cord for power. Since this work light is not mentioned anywhere on Snap-on’s website, it is likely a licensed 3rd […]
