Channellock recently announced a “new and improved” series of Code Blue screwdrivers and nutdrivers. Each screwdriver has a 3-sided handle grip, straight-thru steel blade, and a magnetic tip, while the nutdrivers have full hollow shafts and the same high-torque grip.
The color scheme and grip design of these drivers look rather appealing – if the drivers feel as good as they look, and we expect that they do, they are probably very comfortable to use.

These drivers, while new to the Code Blue series, closely resemble a line of Channellock drivers that previously sold at Sam’s Club stores (shown below). We asked Channellock about this, and were told that the Sam’s Club line was a one-time exclusive run, and that the quality of the drivers prompted them to consider the tools and their supplier for the Code Blue series.
Before switching the Code Blue driver line to the new supplier, Channellock made a few changes to ensure that the tools surpassed their standards for quality and were fitting of the Code Blue designation. In case you are not familiar with them, the following is what Channellock’s previous Code Blue drivers look like.
You can order these drivers directly from Channellock, and they will soon make their way to distributors and retailers. In contrast to Channellock’s core product offerings, these screwdrivers and nutdrivers are not made in the USA. But, they’re priced accordingly, and Channellock’s open disclose greatly reassures us. As soon as we find these in stores, we’ll pick up a set to try out and review.
