A couple of readers asked for info on any cordless snow blower Black Friday deals – these are all I could find on brand-name tools.
Cordless snow blowers and shovels usually aren’t discounted for Black Friday, which is why there’s not much deal selection. But, there are some discounts that might be worth considering, mainly on EGO.
When buying cordless snow blowers online, be sure to check for extra fees, since larger models ship via freight, and also the return policies as some retailers have restrictions on what can be sent back.

HD has had DeWalt’s single stage kit on sale at $799 for a while now. The other week it was SBotD at $749. I know it’s not perfect, but not a bad price considering it has 2x of the 12Ah/4Ah FlexVolt batteries. For reference the bare tool is $789.

I’m seeing a price of $1,119.

HD loves doing that regional pricing. Just checked again, still showing $799 in WI.

The only difference between the SNT2416 and the SNT2405 is the 2416 has a heated handle and includes 10.0 Ah batteries vs. the 2405 with 7.5 Ah batteries. If you already have EGO batteries, you can get the tool only 2405 for $939, that model is the SNT2400.
Andy
The SNT2416 is a 2nd generation 24″ snowblower, while the SNT2405 is the first generation. EGO subtly redesigned most elements to more closely match their 28″ model.
In addition to the heated grips you pointed out, the SNT2416 has trigger-controlled steering, which the SNT2405 does not offer.
The SNT2416 has a different auger chute control mechanism than the SNT2405. The SNT2405 has separate handles for chute rotation and chute angle, while the SNT2416 has a single handle that is used to adjust both chute rotation and angle.
It’s also worth noting that EGO no longer recommends the use of 7.5ah or smaller batteries in the SNT2416 – only the 10ah or 12ah. This different than the SNT2405, which EGO recommends using 7.5ah or larger batteries.
Based on my experience with my SNT2400 using a pair of 10ah batteries versus my neighbor’s SNT2400 with a pair 7.5ah batteries, I think EGO is right to recommend the 10ah or larger size for their 24″ snowblowers. The 10ah do a better job of handling the needed discharge rate and provide enough runtime, while the 7.5ah can fall a little short in heavier workloads.

Interesting that Ego no longer recommends the 7.5ah batteries. I have (I believe) a first gen version of this blower and I had to warranty out both batteries after using the blower less than 10 times. It was really disappointing as I have other OPE such as my electric mower from Makita that has been a workhorse, so I thought a snowblower was a great idea. I have friends that swear by their Ego tools and have never had any battery issues, so I made the purchase. I’m now wondering if maybe the 7.5ah batteries failed because they aren’t suitable the demands of a two stage blower. Unfortunately the 10ah batteries are over a grand, which is basically what I paid for the blower in the first place.

I have been keeping an eye on the Ryobi single stage kit that comes with 2 6ah batteries and don’t think the price will come down any lower; I will note the discounted price has not changed but the percentage has – so that means the original price has increased I assume. I also assume that model is new because there are no actual usage reviews.
I am mainly interested because I am already in that battery system but can’t say that I am confident it will handle the southern Maine snow this year
Thanks Stuart for the write up
Jim
Thanks for the due-diligence, Stuart. I was one of the folks who was asking about snow-blower deals.
Stuart
I tried my best. I don’t recall seeing many discounts on snow blowers in prior years, and was surprised to find even a couple this time.
There will be coupon offers that might apply to cordless snow blowers, but I can’t say which brands will be eligible or excluded; I haven’t paid close attention to snow blower eligibility in the past.

Run time notes: one gets 5 minutes of run time per 1 Ah of battery.
This has been my experience over 8+ years with Ryobi, Sun Joe, 40V batteries in snow blowers, snow paddles, attachment plus trimmer heads – snow paddles, cultivator, brush cutters, string trimming.
So a dual 6 Ah 40V will give you about 30 minutes of snow clearing.
Cost of extra batteries, is a big expense with cordless OPE – outdoor power equipment. You also want a rapid charger – so you don’t have to wait hours for the batteries to charge. So it helps to pick one platform for your mower, weed trimmer, chainsaw, snow blower.
The Ryobi 12 Ah 40V is back in stock – one would need 2 at $350 each. They have been on Deal-of-the-Day before. Which is how I got my two.
